Thanks for the response. Help on this matter would be greatly appreciated, if at all possible. I will post the information that I have gathered. His name was stated as Michel Stout, born approx. 1748, which sources state came from Germany, then to Pennsylvania, then to Louisiana.

According to S.W. LA. Records, he was married to Isabelle Pirella. He is named as Michel, Pierre and Peter in several entries. My problem is figuring out whether this is all the same man. According to entries they resided in what was called St. Landry Parish in their timeframe but is now Acadia Parish our timeframe. The family resided on Bayou Que de Tortue here in Acadia Parish and still does today.

On January 25, 1796, the marriage of son Pierre Stout (born approx. 1765, in Germany) to Amelia Hoffpauir (born June 28, 1781), it is stated that he was the son of Pierre and Elizabeth Stuts, Germans from Europe. {Pierre and Elizabeth?}

The entry for Amelia Hoffpauir to Pierre Stout (which states that her new husband Pierre signed the marriage license as Peter Stout) and states his parents as Peter and Elizabeth Stuts, Nation Irlandens (of Ireland) and Catholics. {Peter and Elizabeth from Ireland?}

Another entry stating the death of son Pierre reads as such:
Stout, Pierre dit Pitre-inhabitants of LaQue Tortue in this parish, originally from Pennsylvania or from Natches (Michel and Elizabeth Allemans - from Europe buried 7 Oct. 1815 at age 48 yrs. in the parish cemetary. {Michel and Elizabeth Allemans?}

On May 22, 1787, the marriage of son Michel Stout (born approx. 1778, in Germany) to Marie Juliana Prudhomme, his parents are stated as Michel and Isabel Stuts.

Supposedly this is also a son, named Joseph Benjamin Stout. I have come across much info. via the internet that states this is also a son of Michel/Pierre/Peter Stout. Sources state he was born approx. 1766, location unknown. S.W. LA. Records entry states: Stout, Joseph-previously known as Benjamin; reconciled and baptized in the Catholic Church, being educated and reared among the Quakers or Shakers. He married September 30, 1792 to Charlotte Bonvillain and is stated to be the son of Peter and Marie Mollon. {Here is the name of a different wife, Marie Mollon?}

And yet another son named Guillaume born 1771, location unknown. Son of Michel Stout and Maria Mullins. {Michel Stout and Maria Mullins?}

My family has always stated his name was Michel and he came from Germany. So the name Michel is evident but why was he also called Pierre and Peter? But my family also says that it was two brothers that came to Louisiana together from the Carolina's. I find no documentation as for the marriage to Marie/Maria Mollon/Mullins.

It is a fact that I am a descendant of son Pierre married to Amelia Hoffpauir. But I, and other family members, want to know who his father really was, where did he come from, and how did he get here? Who was his wife, or should I say which one, or was it both of them? Are my sources correct, where do I go to search further?
