Sadly, Sherlene Rogers Baab has passed away. Like Sherlene, I descend from John Sanders, brother of Zachariah Sanders. Both applied for Revolutionary War pensions after they settled in Kentucky, which gives very useful information. John moved from Buckingham County, Virginia to Madison County, Kentucky in 1789. He lived in the part of the county (along Paint Lick Creek) that became Garrard County in 1796. Zachariah Sanders married Sarah Kitchen in 1797 in Buckingham, and they soon moved to Garrard County. In about 1800 John moved to the part of Pulaski County, Kentucky that soon thereafter became part of Wayne County. Zachariah soon followed, first being taxed in Wayne in 1801.
John and Zachariah Sanders, as well as another brother named Francis, were sons of Francis Sanders who died in Lunenburg County, Virginia in 1760. His widow, Lucy Sanders, remarried to Rev. William Peaseley, an Anglican minister. They had additional children. William Peaseley became Rector of Tillotson Parish in Buckingham County in the 1770s, and that is why the Sanders boys moved from Lunenburg to Buckingham, i.e., with their mother and step-father.
