I, Ben Perkins, clerk of said county court do certify that a writing purporting to be the last will and testament of Moses Hurt, deceased, was this day produced in open court and proven by the oaths of E. G. Hale
and Abraham Allerson the subscribing witnesses to be the act and deed of said testator and ordered to be recorded. Whereupon I have truly recorded said will together with this certificate in said office according to law.

December the 21st One thousand eight hundred and sixty-two. Know all men by these presents that I, Moses Hurt, being sound in mind but weak in body
do make and ordain this my last will and testament.
1st I will and desire the payments of all my just debts and burial expenses.
2nd I desire and bequeath to my beloved son John G. Hurt one Negro man named Fell and also one man named Tom and one black girl named Emaline and her children and her increase hereafter.
3rd I desire and bequeath to my beloved daughter Nancy Pace one black man named Essie and also one boy named Jeff and one black girl named Angeline and her children and the balance of her increase
4th I desire and bequeath to my beloved son Franklin A. Hurt one black girl named Silvy and her children to have and to hold during the life of said Franklin A. Hurt and at his death to be equally divided between my son
John G. Hurt and my daughter Nancy Pace or their heirs.
5th I desire and bequeath to my beloved son John G. Hurt and my daughter the place on which I now live bordering on a line that I make between him
and my daughter Nancy Pace.
6th I desire and bequeath to my beloved daughter Nancy Pace the tract or parcel of land on which the said Nancy Pace now resides lives the line to run between John Hurt and the said Nancy Pace is as follows, viz.:
Beginning at the foot of a hill near the river and near Wm. PaceÂ’s field and running up to my sugar furnace and thence on the branch opposite my old field
and thence to the fence to N. PepperÂ’s line.
7th I desire and bequeath to my son John G. Hurt twenty barrels of corn.
8th I desire and bequeath to my beloved wife Elizabeth Hurt two beds and loom and one bureau and one colt.
9th I desire and bequeath to my son John G. Hurt all the balance of my household furniture.
10th I desire and bequeath all my perishable property that is not above named sold by my administrator for the payment of my debts if there be any ----
I want it equally divided between John G. Hurt and Nancy Pace
