Thank you so much!!! :)

Thanks for all your help :)

All mentioned were of white race. I also did incorrectly name Croler Rosby Flaugher as Crolen Flaughter !! Thank you for letting me know. Were you able to see dates on marriages? Any clues as to where abouts of William Jones,Sr??
It was rumored that he had gone off (to another state)
and been shot and killed (possibly from what I understood)by a Sheriff.
Love to find out!! Thankx for all you have done! :)

In 1850, Alexander and Louisa [Ellen] Scott were in Division 2 of Bath Co., KY (family 490), and a Jane Roe was living with them. Somewhere (don't know where) I got that Jane was Louisa's mother, which would make Louisa's maiden name Roe instead of Hedrick. Do you know who Louisa's parents were, or have a source for her maiden name being Hedrick?

Collinsworth Cemetery in Tripplett, Rowan County

I am trying to locate a cemetery in Rowan County in the Tripplett Community where Belle Collinsworth Truesdale [here spelled Truesdell] was buried in 1914. She was the second wife, of Byron Freemont Truesdale, my ggf. His first wife is my lineage, but Belle had a daughter Violet and her people want to know more about her, so I am helping out by posting this. Belle’s people sometimes spelled Colansworth and were from Pine Grove, I believe. Her death certificate lists that Collinsworth Cemetery as her final resting place. Any help you can give me, is greatly appreciated. Thank you. Cris Brown

Oscar Perry was my great-grandfather. He moved his family up to the Galion/Mansfield area of Ohio from Kentucky - during the depression if I remember my late grandmother's old stories right. My great aunt Alice is almost certainly named after Minnie Alice Gregory.

This link might help you, although, of course, you might have found answers in the ten years since this post;)

http://tpettit.best.vwh.net/rowan/families/fg22/fg22_258.htm

This nice lady appears to have done some extensive legwork on our shared lineage. (Although I probably need to email her and mention that Asa and Oscar were brothers, as she has only Asa as a child of Minnie and David).
Obit / Death notice: Emily (McClain) Royse

I am seeking any information on the death of Mrs. Emily Royse; as it seems she died between 1900 and 1910, it's impossible to find proper death records (Rowan county apparently didn't start filing them again after the Civil War until 1911?). According to the 1900 US census, she was born in Jan 1855. Her husband was John W Royse, who later died in 1918 and was buried apparently at Slaty Point cemetery; her parents were, I believe, James and Emily McClain (both of whom I also can't find death records for, but I'll burn that bridge when I come to it). It's pretty likely her grave is unmarked, as I'm sure John's is as well, so at this point I'm kinda crossing my fingers / holding out hope on an obituary or death notice of some kind. Unfortunately, as I am personally located in New Mexico, traveling to Rowan county to seek out the newspaper archives at Morehead State University, or any of the myriad local churches for their burial records, is out of the question. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Hello--I descend from the Perry's and Nickells of Morgan County Kentucky formerly from Virginia. Elizabeth Perry Wells(1802) -John Daniel Perry(1770) -Daniel Perry(1742) Frederick Maryland. The Nickell line is as follows: The mother of the above Elizabeth Perry Wells was Elizabeth (Betsy) Nickell(1768) -Thomas Nickell(1740) -John Nickell (1720)Ireland. Do any of those names sound familiar?
Becky

I can't help you with your request, but would you have a Sylvia Perry (b. 1780, d. 1863) from Somerville, Ohio in your family tree? She was the daughter of Daniel Perry and married Joseph Blossom. They are in my line.
Also, I have Anna/Joanna Nichols (b. 1834, d. 1923) in my family tree. She married Nathaniel Thompson and descendants are in Middletown. I'm also from Middletown.
Too many coincidences.
Please reply,
Tom Draut

Thanks in advance to anyone who is willing to obtain an article for me in the June 23rd, 1989 edition of the Morehead News. The article is about the history of the Perry/Nickell families and was written by J.W. Downing but I do not know the exact name of the article. It is to include in a DAR application so I also need the name of the newspaper and the date in the copy. Thanks so much.
Becky Jansen of Middletown, OH

Old message...wonder if youre still there. Oscar Lee Dehart (b. 1876) and his son, Oscar Jr (b 1907) both died within two weeks of one another in 1929. My grandmother, Louisa Eleanor Waltz was Senior's 2nd wife and she buried both of them, then returned to Ohio with her two children and later married Ralph Moll. Oscar Sr had an Uncle David (b. 1847) but he was only 11 when he died in 1858. There is a lot of intermarriage between Deharts and Hubbards and several bear Hubbard as a middle name. I can't find a David in my records that fits your descriptions in this thread.

I think the Rowan Co. Sheriff or a deputy or something was involved. My papaw Jack C.L. Smith, told me once, going home after deer hunting. He did a few years ago.
Medford Riddle - 1923-2012 Ky. to Ohio

Medford Riddle passed away Tuesday evening May 29, 2012 in Country Meadows Care Center, Bellville, Ohio. He was 88.

He was born July 31, 1923 in Rowan County, Kentucky to Arthur and Isa Mae (Perry) Riddle.

A World War II veteran, Medford served three years in the U.S. Army.

On May 31, 1947 he married Mary Jane Farst with whom he celebrated 65 years of marriage.

Med worked for over 40 years in the enamel plant at Westinghouse, retiring in 1988. He was a dedicated employee, always arriving early to get things ready for the work day.

A lifelong area resident, Med loved Bellville Street Fair time in the Valley. A long standing family tradition, every year he and Mary Jane opened their home during the fair for friends and family, often hosting covered dish dinners.

Med was a member of New Life Church of Christ in Bellville where he taught Sunday school and served as a deacon. He also attended North Bend Church of the Brethren with his family on Saturday evenings.

At the end of a long day, Med came home where he would work some more in his vegetable garden. Keeping a large garden occupied much of his time, but was well worth it when he and Mary Jane finished the canning and freezing of their crops. The harvests were more than food for the winter, but often the center of family gatherings, a get-together at the Riddle home was focused around a good meal. Med worked hard at both the factory and at home to provide for his family.

Always ready to go to work for others, he was great at pitching in on construction projects. He helped many relatives and friends build and rebuild their homes "just for the pleasure of helping."

After retirement Med and Mary Jane enjoyed traveling, including a special Alaskan cruise. He was a Kentucky history buff, anxious to read The Kentucky Explorer, a magazine about Kentucky history and ancestry.

In addition to his wife Mary Jane, he is survived by a daughter Cindy Hemmerly of Columbus, Ohio, son and daughter-in-law Jim and Debbie Riddle of Butler, Ohio, son Ric Riddle of Mansfield, Ohio, and son Alan Riddle of Bellville, OH; six grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, four sisters and brothers-in-law Loretta and Wilbur Hockensmith of Mansfield, Glenna and Bill Sesco of Ontario, Leola Kauffman of Ashland, and Pauline and Ron Ramsey of Tennessee; along with numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson Rick Lee Riddle.

Friends may call Saturday, June 2, 2012 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. in North Bend Church of the Brethren (formerly Clear Fork Valley Wesleyan Church at Four Corners) where the funeral service will follow at 12 p.m.
Pastor Steve Kistler will officiate and burial with military honors conducted by Irvin Hiskey Post American Legion, will follow in Bellville Cemetery.

Memorial contributions to the Jefferson Township-Bellville Rescue Squad or the American Cancer Society may be made at the church.

Online condolences to the family may be made by visiting:www.snyderfuneralhomes.com

Richland

I looked for Saylor Mynhier on the Ky. death index and found Taylor Mynhier who died March 23 1937 in Rowan County Ky. but did not find a Saylor for that time. Taylor Mynhiers death certificate says he is buried in Silome Cemetery which is locted in Rowan County and Tolliver Addition is also in Rowan County. I also looked for an obit in the March 1937 newspaper and there was nothing for anyone with the last name of Mynhier for that time. Also the certificate stated his birth was July 1846. Hope this helps in your search.
