We called her Aunt Bridget, don't know why.

I would like very much to have the material you mentioned, my wife and I have done the whole geneology on the Ellis family and the material you have would be a great addition.

Please contact me at Elliswt@aol.com.
Re: Bald Hill Cemetary. It is in Nicholas County. Its on a private farm, but they don't mind visitors. It was owned by my grandfather "Ally" Dotson and his father, Isaac Marshall Dotson, but friends and neighbors are also buried there. If you are coming from Millersburg, turn left onto US68. Go about 2-3 miles. On the left, you will see a small stone building, very old on the left. Turn just past it and go up steep hill. Bear to right, past some houses, go straight, past white house with green roof. Cemetary is on the left, beside old barn that Ally D. built.(May be torn down now).

Do you have any additional information on the Ballengal line. I have an Ann Mary Ballingal who married Charles Gifford in Nicholas Co. Kentucky. The marriage bond was signed by David Ballingal, some one else said that the 1850 census had her in the houshold of Neil Ballingal. Their children were William, John, Everett. Most of the children lived in or around the Robertson Co. area.

Mary Swearingin

I'm looking for William and Sarah Bailey Frederick. Sarah died in 1911, so I have her dc. It says she is buried in Wiggins Chapel Cem. I think William Henry Frederick must have died between 1900 and 1910. Thanks for you help. I hope to come back up soon. I'll let you know and maybe we can get together for lunch or something. Have a great weekend! mike

This is NOT the Matilda that married William Medlin in Nicholas County, KY.
This IS the Matilda Jane Fredrick that was born to William and Nancy
Jane Hilander Fredrick in 1856.
She first shows up in the 1860 Fleming County, KY census.
My next record for her is a January 1, 1877 marriage to Lemuel Berry in Robertson County, KY. She uses the name Matilda J. Fredrick See. Mr. Berry is her second husband, and her first husband apparently died,
since she uses the name See. There are a handful of Sees around RobCo during the mid 1800s, but I haven't found a Fredrick-See marriage yet.
My third record is Matilda Frederick in the 1880 RobCo census, living with Alexander Sanders (Widowed or Divorced), and his 15 yr old son, William.
On April 3, 1882 in RobCo, Matilda Fredrick Berry married again
(with Alexander Sanders as surety) to James Bryant (24, born in Carter County, KY).
James and Matilda are in Jessamine County, KY in the 1900 census, with their granddaughter, Etta Helvey. Not sure where their daughter was, but record shows that she was still living.
James and Matilda are in Carter County, KY in the 1910 census.
James Bryant died in Carter Co. on November 2, 1919.
Matilda died in Carter Co. on January 27, 1943, and she is buried in Eagle Hall Cemetery, in the community of Soldier.
I have photos of all documents, and I'm still looking for info on her first husband, unk See. I will also try to find info on her daughter. If you would like copies, please email me at
jmichaelfrederick@hotmail.com . mike
same Patricia Diehl, different user id. My aunt never had much, if any, information about the Curtis family. Since my grandfather was so young when Minerva died, he never had any information either. I'm guessing there is a Curtis family plot somewhere in Bracken County. Also guessing they were Methodist. Any more information?
Glad to know Minerva had a brother. I'll check to see if there is burial information on him.
Keep in touch.
I do have a little information on the Bailey family. In fact there is a cousin I have been in touch with, lives in Houston. Her mother (lives in Kansas) and my aunt are correspondents.

Was your Minerva Ann Curtis the daughter of Joseph and Martha Workman Curtis? Minerva Ann was born ca 1849 in Bracken co. KY. In the 1880 census Martha Curtis is living with William and Ann Dryden, she is age 56 and widowed. Ann Dryden was reinbursed for her mother's funeral expenses according to the 1890 Robertson co. records. Minerva Ann was the sister to my great grandfather James H Curtis who also died from TB.

My Great Grandfather's name was Robert Linville born in Kentucky. He had a twin brother, but I do not know his name. I believe there were 9 children 7 boys and 2 girls. Robert's son is Earl Linville, who is my father's father (my Grandfather)who died when my Dad was 4 1/2 years old. If any of this information is related to what you have, please reply. I have photos of them, and maybe your relative.
Thank you,
Judy Kowach AKA Judy Kay Linville

There is a cemetery on a farm on Crockett Ln. on the east side of Robertson Co. near Sardis. The farm was owned at one time (late 1800's)by a H. L. Wilson. I believe Mr. Wilson is buried at the Shannon cem. The cemetery has been documented but there are no Wilson headstones in it. The earliest burial is 1842 and the last 1869 (these dates are from the headstones). From the KY death records there were burials in a Rob. Co. Wilson Burial Grd. in 1913-1916, but again I do not have any Wilsons listed.
Minerva Ann Curtis was my great grandmother. Her son, Joseph, was my Grandfather and was raised by the last wife of William Dryden, Lizzie Brown. (They all died of consumption.)My aunt and I are trying to locate the cemetery where M. Ann Curtis is buried. Do you have any information on that. They are not at Foster's Chapel. I have pictures of William's gravestone from there.
There were several William Dryden's around the same time period. Some in Harrison county, near Kentontown, and some in Robertson. My original Dryden actually lived in Mason County, near Orangeburg.

Among my mother and father's pictures I found a picture of a young man in uniform. On the back is printed "PVT. LEVI HAROLD HENDERSON to Ramond & Edna & baby" (Me being the baby). By that Levi was in the service around 1952-1955. Since my grandmother was Lula HENDERSON Tarr, living in Bracken/Robertson Cos in KY one would assume this Levi is related to her (Edna was her daughter). I am looking for any relatives of this young man. Would love to share the picture and hopefully stories and information concerning the HENDERSON family from the Bracken and Robertson Co's area. Feel free to email me at KYgengirl1@aol.com. Thanks in advance.
Paula Avery
Can anyone tell me anything about the Holmes & Pearce Funeral Home that was in buisness in the Robertson County area in the approximate time of 1875

I found papers of the estate of James Morgan Linville where his wife Ellen was settling his estate. I would like to find the burial site of James Morgan Linville. I have three generations of Linvilles that I have not been able to fine the graves.
Lewis Thomas Linville, James Morgan Linville and James Lewis Linville.
Evidently they are buried on a family farm or in a Cemetery without stones. i sure would love to have help on this.

The deed calls for land on the waters of Bee Lick, the land was transfered by a commissioners deed to Josiah Dobson. The land was adjoining the landof John Ashpaw to the corner of B. F.
Mary,
You and I have chatted before about the Tarrs in Bourbon Co. in early 1800's. I am wondering if there was a connection between Charles and Frederick Tarr (there was also a John Tarr in 1810 census). They all three lived in Stoner area. Frederick died in early 1805, leaving 5 children (believe the youngest was born after his death). His wife, Lydia, was listed as being born in PA around 1765. Frederick was listed on the 1792 tax list. I have tried to find out from where Frederick originated, but to no avail. I know Charles came from MD. Do not remember where John was from. Just seems hard to believe that in 1800 there are 3 DISTINCT families in the Stoner area of KY with the unusual name of TARR.

Only info I could find was on Thomas H. Owens. He died 12 Oct 1877 Disease of the Bladder. He was 73 years old and married. He was born in Bracken Co. the son of Thomas and Nancy Owens. This info comes from "Some early Robertson County vital Reords 1874 - 1909" from Robertson County Doctor's Reports.
