I am looking for information on Benjamin and Elizabeth Maynard that resided in Pike County, Kentucky in the 1800s....here is the 1850 census data on the family from Pike County (family 757):
Benjamin Mainer, 34
Elizabeth Mainer, 25
Elvina Mainer, 9
John D Mainer, 8
Rebecca A Mainer, 7
Amos L Mainer, 5
Esther M Mainer, 2
Wm H Mainer, 0
Lucretia Maner, 19
James Mullius, 21
In the 1860 census (District 1, Pike County), here they are:
Benj A Mainer 44
Elizabeth Mainer 34
John D Mainer 18
Rebecca Mainer 16
Ames L Mainer 15
Easter M Mainer 13
Harmon Mainer 11
Angeline Mainer 9
George Mainer 7
Harrison Mainer 5
Benjiman Mainer 3
Sarah A M J Mainer 1
Elizabeth Havens 19
John Taylor 20
In the 1860 census, Elvina is married to a Runyon (misspelled as Reynons in 1860). Interestingly, Mary Maynard is living with them as a servant.
I was hoping someone had this family in their pedigree and could assist. I feel strongly that my great grandmother Mary Maynard who married Samuel Moore in Lawrence County, Kentucky in 1863 was connected to this family. My Mary Maynard was born about 1837 give or take a couple of years.
On Mary Maynard Moore's death certificate in 1915, her father is listed as Benjamin Maynard (even though it says his place of birth was Virginia-that's not far fetched for the time of his birth since WV was not yet a state that early); no mother is listed...
On the flood damaged marriage certificate from 1863, Lawrence County, KY the two witnesses were John Hardin & Elizabeth ? (last named blotted out by ink that ran when flood water damaged it). I know who John Hardin was; he was connected to my great grandfather by his first marriage. Mary Maynard says she is 27 as of May. So, if we put those two names together Benjamin and Elizabeth together...this couple has the right age range to be Mary's parents. Is it possible that someone knows of a Mary in the household or could one of the other girls have went by Mary or did the census taker potentially omit her?
Any knowledge on this family is appreciated....! Mary and Samuel are brickwalls for me for over a decade....I feel I've been looking at it long enough that these two coincidences point to some possible connection with this family....
Thanks,
Pamela Moore
