Hi, I wasn't going to write at first because so much of my information is packed away, but I do have Makemsons in my line and I have a little in my travel notebook if i can be of help. I have not worked on this for a few years.
Andrew Makemson came to AMERICA in about 1755 with wife, 7 boys and a daughter. I do have their names and some informatiion on them and many following down through early 1900s.

They did go to Kentucky after war and some came North into Kosciusko Co. IN

You specificall mentioned the name HAND. I have an ANDREW , whose 2nd wife was ELIZABETH HAND.

IF I CAN ANSEWER A SPECIFIC QUESTION, I WILL BE GLAD TO AND IF I THINK I HAVE IT PACKED AWAY, I WILL BE GLAD TO SEARCH FOR IT IF I THINK I DID HAVE IT.

I THINK I PROBABLY HAVE ABOUT 8 GENERATIONS OF MAKEMSONS, BUT NO EVERY DETAIL I'D LIKE OF COURSE.

Surnames: Makemson and McPherson
I ran across your message while reading the Makemson board. My gggg mother Elizabeth Makemson was married to my gggg father John Mcpherson before 1798 whwn son Robert was born in Virginia. My ggg father Joab Mcpherson, married Nancy Hand, daughter of Cornelius Hand of New Jersey, was born in 1807 in Tuscarawas Counnty, Ohio. The Mcphersons and Hands came together to Whitley and Kosciusko Countiies around 1850. According to the county histories of both counties Elizabeth Makemson Mcpherson died in Tuscarawas County, Ohio before they moved to Indiana. John Macpherson was 91 years and 8 months old whwn he died in 1851. Other sons were George and John Mcpherson. The Kosciusko Co., history said he was the son of Capt. John Mcpherson of Philadelhia, Penn, who died with Gen. Richard Montgomery at Quebec, Canada December 28, 1775.
I would like any information on who theiir parents and place of marriage.
I would appreciate it, as I have been looking for a long time.

consolo22, I have questions for you. I too am of the Makemson line. Several of the Makemsons are currently doing more research. We really don't know when they came to America. We don't know the correct birth order of the 7 boys, & 1 daughter. There will be an update coming out in June, and a reunion. So we are working like crazy researching! We have just discovered they owned a Mill in Harford Cty., MD during the Revolutionary War, if this is news to you! And Ariel Davis who married John III, is said to have been related to Jefferson Davis of the Confederacy. Do you know anything about that?

Hi Nancy, Sorry to be so long in replying...computer glitzes again. Still working on Makemson history. Have pictures John II thru' John III, and some of wives brothers and children. Do you know any thing about John III's wife, Ariel Davis Makemson? Supposedly she was related to Jefferson Davis....?
