I have a weak
BISHOP connection in
Nicholas County,
KY. I have a Mary Jane
BISHOP daughter of Richard and Jane
BISHOP, born in
Kentucky in 1826 according to the 1850 Census of
Clermont County,
OHIO.
There is a Richard
BISHOP listed in Nicholas Twp,
Nicholas County KY in the 1830 census. This census shows only names of heads of households, but there is a female child between 0-5 years old, which would fit the birth of Mary Jane
BISHOP, as well as one male between 5-10, and one female 10-15.
I believe Richard, Jane and Mary Jane moved to
Clermont Cty,
OHIO by 1840, if I read the 1840 census correctly. I cannot account for the other members of the family listed in the 1830 census.
Mary Jane
BISHOP married an
Ephraim JOHNSON in December 1843. They, as well as Richard and Jane
BISHOP, are listed as living in one household in the 1850 Census in
Clermont County, OH. Mary Jane and
Ephraim had a daughter Elizabeth
JOHNSON in 1853. I have a handwritten poem by Elizabeth dated "July 27 1879,
Carlisle, Nicholis (sic) County,
Kentucky" Could she have been visiting her grandparents' relatives there???
Elizabeth
JOHNSON is one of my great-grandmothers.
Hope this helps. Any corroboration appreciated.
