My gg grandmother Nancy Elizabeth McElvain is your Jesse H. Reno McElvain's sister. Their parents were Abraham McElvain b. 7/16/1800 VA m. 9/17/1829 s. Mary Moore. Abrahm's parents were Thomas McElvain b. 1780-89 VA s. Ruth Vincent. Thomas's parents were Thomas McElvain b. abt 1760 VA m. 9/3/1781 Rockingham Co. VA s. Francis Price. This Thomas's father was Alexander McElvain.

My gg grandmother Nancy Elizabeth McElvain m. Lewis Stewart 11/24/1862. My hunch is that Mary E. Stewart my be his sister. Do you have any info on Mary E. Stewart's family?

I also have children for generations of the McElvain line if you are interested. Anyway I hope this is helpful. Lisa

Do you have any other Stewart info going back further than 1860's? I have the names of mothers on my father's side - Flinn, Mauzy, Fox, Pennington, and Stewart. Actually, I don't have a first name for Stewart, but was told this Stewart had a sister named Lelia(?) and that they owned a plantation in KY. They would have been born somewhere between 1800 and 1825. The unknown Stewart married a Pennington. A Pennington daughter married a Fox. The Fox daughter married a Mauzy. There were Mauzy's in Hopkins and Muhlenburg Counties. The whereabouts of the other families I am unsure of. Only have heard that Stewarts were somewhere in KY. Any possible clues would be appreciated.

I would love to have any info that you can give me. I am confused at this point. One source has told me that Thomas McElwain's father was Alexander and another has told me that his father was George and mother Nancy Rector. Do you know the names of his siblings? Also, do you have any info on Francis Price? I show that she remarried about 17 years after marriage to Thomas but I dont know if he was still living then? Regarding Jesse H. Reno McElvain marriage to Mary E. Stewart, they married Jan. 30, 1866 in Muhlenberg Co. Mary E. (I think this is Elizabeth) was born March 14, 1850. I have the names of their children but don't know anything about them (with the exception of my great grandfather, Abraham Lewis McElvain, aka Louis A. McLevain. Also, do you know the connection between Odie McElvain and the Indians? Thanks!!

I would appreciate any information you have acquired on Thomas McElvain. I also have his wife as Francis Price, but with no particulars. Their daughter Phebe McElvain continues the link to my maternal great grandmother, Leona Jane Vincent. Thanks for any help. Paul Daniel
