Is there a reading of the graves in Coffey Cemetery near Wisdon? I looking for a young Brown female who died in childbirth in 1878.
The story goes like this; Edward V. Brown age 2 is living with John Cox family in Slip Rock, Barren Co. KY in 1880. He is listed as a nephew. Edward told his daughter that his mother died in childbirth and he was given to the Cox family.
This Cox family John and Jermima are buried in Coffey Cemetery, so I'm wondering if Edward's Mother is buried there. Any and all information of Edward Brown, his mother and father would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
Rebecca Merritt
Lebanon, IN

Saw your post. Interesting. I am also researching this line. I descend on the Dulin side. Felix's sister, Louisa, was my great grandmother. Where is the farm located? I have Harriet Walkup, 1847-1927; Euvenia, 1849-1922; John W., 1853-?; Martha, 1846-1916; Letitia, 1855-1926. Is this info correct?

I currently own the farm that Louisa Hicks Walkup and Robert Madison
Walkup purchased on 4 Sept 1848. Felix Dulin married Harriet Walkup's
sister, Martha. All of Louisa's children were born on the farm. I am actively
looking for descendants from that farm, because it has been passed down
through the family for over 160 years. Mike, I think you may be one.
Our fathers were close friends, as you know. Isn't it a small world?

I realize you posted this 10 years ago, so my information may be old news. Reuben Edwards was the oldest son of Nathaniel and Lucinda Edwards - Charles Albert Edwards was the name of his second son, my great great grandfather, who also inherited the family homestead and fought for the Union (Company K 13th KY Volunteer Infantry). Reuben must have named HIS son after his younger brother. My younger brother and I are the only male-line descendents of Charles Albert Edwards (b. 1842 I think). I have been to the family homestead and have photos of the house - there is a graveyard there which is well-documented but it is hidden in the woods and I haven't found it myself yet. It is just about 7 miles SW of Edmonton, KY in Metcalfe CO. You have Nathaniel's dates wrong - I believe he was born in either 1791 or 1794 and he died Jan 13, 1865 (one day after his birthday!). His exact birthdate is on his gravestone and I have the records of the graveyard somewhere (I am doing all of this from memory). I may have more on Reuben Edwards in the records and will send them if I can find them. Hope this helps! Jim Edwards

This is a treasured family picture of the Ruben Hurt family in front of their log cabin circa 1904 because that's my grandmother, Della Rae Hurt Garrett, on her mother's lap. According to my grandma, these people are in the photo, reading from bottom right to left, Elizabeth (Bettie) Hurt, Della Rae Hurt on her lap, Ruben Hurt (Bettie's husband), their son Cornelius Hurt, Bettie's parents Ellen Johnson and Bob Johnson, Annie Johnson-England; then, top row right to left: Ellis Smith, Bennie Johnson, Atlas Johnson.

Note that Bettie was pregnant with Hettie Hurt Thurmon at the time of this photo, according to her sister (my grandmother.)

If you have any information on any of the people or the cabin in this photo, I would be very grateful if you would share it. I hope this picture is a lucky find for someone!

This first photo is of my maternal great-grandfather Ruben Hurt of Edmonton, Kentucky, photo is c. 1890 according to my grandmother. The second photo is of his family. From left to right, standing in the back: Della Rae Hurt (Garrett); sister Hettie Hurt (Thurman); Garnet; Hayden Thurman holding his son, Lowell. Seated are Ruben Hurt, his wife Elizabeth Johnson Hurt, and I believe that is her father next to her, Bob Johnson, but I am searching for verification on this photo. I'm also guessing it was taken c. 1920.

My daughter is going to come over and fix it for me. My dad just died in April. I wish so bad that I had found this picture before and him being able to see it.

Looking for Marriage Date of Dallas Elmore Robertson and Lovie Beatrice (Scott ) Robertson

I am the granddaughter of Dallas Elmore Robertson and Lovie Beatrice (Scott) Robertson and the daughter of Donald Odell Robertson and Betty Lou(Hurt)Robertson. I am working on a family tree for my Dad and I am at a stand still. No one seems to know when my grandparents got married, not even their children. Everyone seems to think it was in Hart County, KY but I can't get the records because the Hart County Court House burned in 1928 therefore records prior to 1928 were destroyed. I checked Frankfort, KY vital statistic website and they didn't start keeping marriage records until 1958. My grandparents ran off and got married when my grandmother was 13, therefore the year would have been 1922. My grandfather turned 18 years of age on May 20, 1922 so I feel like they probably would have gotten married after his birthday. I will list their names along with birth and death. Dallas Elmore Robertson, May 20, 1904 - February 7, 1967 and Lovie Beatrice (Scott) Robertson, December 10, 1908 - June 12, 1980. They lived in the Knob Lick, KY area and Center, KY area. They could have gotten married in Green County, KY or Metcalfe County, KY but I checked with the courthouses and they could not find any record. I did this by phone. Their marriage date would be recorded in the old Family Bible but no one seems to know who has it. I would appreciate any information you can give me. I don't have a membership to this website, therefore I can't do indepth searches. If anyone could help me to get this information, I would greatly appreciate it.

THANK YOU,

KIM (Robertson) TYLER

I am not sure about this. I have Willis is the son of Thomas and Nancy Sledd Grissom. Again, this is info from an aunt and I haven't be able to prove this. What is your line? Are you descended from Melvin's sister Tish? Sorry it took me so long to answer. You can email me at MSG71@msn.com
