Up until about 3 years ago we had our family reunion at Winker Cemetery on Winker Road in Mccreary County. The road is off of St.HWY 700 which runs into New Liberty Road. It's hard to find.
Good luck!

Callie

This shooting may be related to a disagreement over a dice game.

Any help on where I may find a record of this type would be appreciated.

Went to the library in La Plata, Maryland and found the book Maryland State Archives told me. "To Maryland From Overseas" by Harry Wright Newman. It states 'Sailing also from Liverpool in the Gilbert commanded by Captain Richard Holme, a short time later, another contingent of so called rebells was destined for "Port North" on the Potomac. The ship arrived on August 5, 1747 in the lower Potomac.
Four ships in all landed at "Wecomeca" in St. Mary's, where a number of rebels were advertised for sale to planters under the direction of Robert Horner, a Maryand Gentleman and Planter. In all seven ships of Jocobite prisoners anchored in Maryland waters, the first having been the "Potomac" on February 10, 1747.'
However, I found a book about the Maryland Gazette and and image of the newspaper stating "the Ship Gildart, Capt. Holme, master, arrived on the 26th of July in the Potomack, with 82 rebels from Liverpool." (look under Annapolis)

It won't let me attach here. Follow directions below.

To search for possible information about the arrival of the ship, you may wish to research the newspaper entitled the Maryland Gazette, which appears on our website for the Archives of Maryland On-Line at www.aomol.net. Please click on the link for Other Records at the bottom of the left hand column. Then, under the section for newspapers, use the link for Images of the Maryland Gazette, 1728-1839. If prompted for a user name and password, please enter aaco and aaco# respectively.
FYI - I know daughter Nancy's death cert. has Bond but Jerry Winchester has her last name as Perkins. So you might take that in to consideration during your hunt. Elizabeth is living during the June 01, 1900, Parkers Lake, Pulaski Co., KY census - Born Nov 1828, KY - Age 71, listed as widowed w/ 10/6 living children. Calvin's mother was Martha Ridenour although Marcella called her Barbara. Why I don't know because she had a sister Barbara, unless Ms. Marcy had the two of them confused. No telling how Ridenour was spelled. I have Martha as the m/o William Costello Wilson & Henry Squire Wilson also.

This is info I came across when researching my grandmother she was Calvin Honeycutt's 2nd marriage . So maybe u can research the imfo farther to make sure it is right... Hope this helps u in some way on your genealogy.. You mention your grandma is she related to the Honeycutt's if so how. Calvin was always Grandpa Honeycutt to all of us he was the only Grandpa we ever knew.

I emailed the Maryland State Archives asking about the port where supposedly James Keith came to in Maryland because I couldn't find anything about a Port Potomac. This is what they wrote:
Dear Patron:

Thank you for your request to search for information about James Keith who arrived in Maryland on August 05, 1747.

Our staff does not know of a Port Potomac or of a town with Potomac as the second word in its name. A couple of places named Potomac existed, as well as a Port Tobacco.

It is difficult to trace the indentured servitude of an individual, as the purchase was a private transaction. After his service, he could appear in any of the court records, such as land, patent, probate, or tax records.

As a one-time free courtesy, our staff examined the book entitled Scots on the Chesapeake by David Dobson and located an entry for James Keith "b. 1727, servant, Glenbervie, Kincardineshire, Jacobite, tr. 24 Feb. 1747, fr. Liverpool to VA. on Gildart, arr. Port North Potomac, Md, 5 Aug. 1747. (P.2.310) (P.R.O. T1.328)."

These references are P.2.310 to Prisoners of the '45 by B.G. Seton, published in Edinburg in 1929; and Public Record Office (now National Archives of Britain), Liber T1, folio 328.

Please check with your local public library to locate this book. To obtain a copy of the record in Liber T1, folio 328, please contact the The National Archives, Kew, Richmond, Surrey, TW9 4DU, www.nationalarchives.gov.uk.

We also examined the book entitled To Maryland From Overseas by Harry Wright Newman, which focuses mainly on the rebellion of 1715, but also has a small section about the rebellion in 1745. It states that the ship Gildart was destined for Port North on the Potomac River; however, it stayed in the south portion of the river and landed at Wecomeco in St. Mary's County, where some of the prisoners were sold by Robert Horner.

Since the ship arrived in St. Mary's County, you may wish to contact the St. Mary's County Historical Society, P.O. From what I have gathered her husbands name was Jesse Elmer Powell and her fathers name was bud honeycutt. I know that ivory was also married again after Elmer to a guy named George Montgomery. Does anyone by any chance have any info on what ivorys mothers name was? Hope this helps

Hello, I have been able to trace my family directly back to Elijah & Nancy Rhue. Feel free to look at my family tree. There were a lot of Watters thanks to my great grandfather and his 3 wives. Happy hunting. I am currently trying to find records for the immigrant Waters clan. I know they came from Scotland and also Ireland in the early 1700s....possibly Elija's parents. If you get any info regarding same, please share with me.

Thanks so much, Judith Watters Grise

I believe my wife's 3g-grandmother, Elly Waters was the siser to Joseph Wathers. She married William Spradlin. She hasn't gotten much farther than you on your research of Nancy Rhue but I know sometimes having additional information on siblings can help validate information.

Elly and William had 9 children that we know of....

Their son, Eli (1852-1909) his her 2x grandfather and married Mary King. Their son, William Beatty married Nora Cox. This is the line that my wife is descended from.

Elijah Spradlin 1837 – 1918
Elliott Spradlin 1844 – 1943
Pleasant Spradlin 1844 –
Amelia J Spradlin 1846 –
Nancy A Spradlin 1848 –
Millard Spradlin 1850 – 1950
Eli Spradlin 1852 – 1909
William M. Spradlin 1855 – 1931
Nelson Spradlin 1857 –

Elly Waters and William Spradlin are the 3g-grandfather to my wife. She has been researching this line and much of her 'Spradlin' side of the family trace to McCreary and the surrounding areas.

Elly and William had 9 children that we know of....

Their son, Eli (1852-1909) his her 2x grandfather and married Mary King.
