From family genealogy from my mother, I am a descendant of Stephen Lee and Anne Murphy Dunn. In researching my family's Lee lineage, I have found some inconsistencies!!!! The first is where and when was Stephen Lee actually born and who were his parents? I come from Lewis Lightfoot Lee, the oldest of Stephen's sons. He WAS totally left out of the will, as it sounds like he had epilepsy and Stephen had already paid off many of his debts and given him a slave to help with his seizures and taking care of the family. I have Leannah, one of Stephen's daughters, marrying John Lashbrooke. I have seen where Leannah was another Lee's daughter! There is SO much misinformation in these early histories! Stephen Lee's will lists his daughter as Leannah Lashbrooke. Anyone have any actual information on where and when Stephen Lee was born and who his parents were? I know the Lees of Virginia say he is not the son of Richard Lee of Ditchley as he inherited no land from him. So, who were his parents. I have read that it was a Wiliam Lee, but the tree doesn't make sense to me with the names. There are many repetitive names and lack of true dates, it is hard to follow. My mother's notes also have Lewis Lightfoot marrying Jemima Ramey, which I know is true because I am names for her daughter, Jemima Lee Lindell!! I inherited the family portrait. I have no parents for her, however. I do know she had quite a few children with Lewis and died at 25 years old! Two of his daughters also married Rameys. Neither one is mentioned in his will! I have a Deborah Lee who married a Jacob Ramey and Lydia, who married Sanford Ramey. Any info on this? I got this from my mother's notes and also from someone from Mason county doing research for my mother who noted that 3 of Stephens children married Rameys. Which Ramey family was this or were they 2 different families? I know there other Lees (Goochland) in Kentucky with some of the same names, one being Jemima and another Ramey. Anyone have a connection to this Stephen Lee and the Goochland Lees?
