MAYNARD Vernal Ray Maynard, age 75, a 23 year resident of Whitehall, Ohio, (Franklin County) completed his life's journey on Sunday, December 30, 2012.

Vernal was born on July 20, 1937 in Inez, Kentucky to the late Floyd and Oma (Fletcher) Maynard.

He retired from Ohio Packing Company after 39 years of service in August 1999.
He was a member of the United Food & Commercial Workers Union, Local No. 1059 Columbus, Ohio.
He was also a long standing member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2244.
Vernal faced many challenges in his life and managed each one on his own.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He will truly be missed. Our loss is Heaven's gain. I know he's in heaven telling Mom, "Love you mostest."
In addition to his parents, Vernal was preceded in death by wife of 23 years Flora Mae (Hanning), and his daughters Ann Maynard and Ellen Jones.
Survived by children, Melody Sue (Jeff) Davis, Tempa Bernice (Steve) Freeman, Vernal A. (Cheryl) Maynard Jr.; step-children, Roxann (Lenard) Spencer, Cheryl Johnson, Flora (Dean, decd.) Rogers, Regina (Jeff) Hall, and John (Teresa) Johnson; brothers, Claude (decd.) (Gale), Edgar (decd.), Floyd (decd.) (Doris, decd.), Herbert (Ruth), Jesse (Donna), John (Ruth, decd.), TJ (LouElla), and Troy (Willadean), Maynard; sisters, Aileen (Lloyd) Bowen, Doris (Phillip) Mosley, Madge (Dallas) Ousley, Mida (decd.) (Fred) Newell, Naoma (John) Hill, Ola (Lenvil, decd.) Patrick, Patricia (decd.) (Leroy) Patrick, and Rebecca (Lloyd) McCoy; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are Wednesday, January 2, 2013 from 5-8 p.m. with funeral service on Thursday, January 3, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at O.R. Woodyard, 1346 S. High Street, Columbus, OHIO 43207.
Family requests that in lieu of flowers, please donate to the American Lung Association.
Interment: Obetz Cemetery, 4455 Groveport Road, Obetz, OHIO 43207.
