My great great grandfather - JohnHale - born 1800-1810in one of these Virginia counties: Grayson, Washington, or Wythe. According tothe Wyhte County Historical Society no Hale families were living in Wythecounty during the time John Hale would have been born in the county. They did say that several male children wereborn in Grayson county that matched the birth time period for John Hale. Accordingto a document that John Hale’s son Willam (born about 1834 in Russell county,VA provided in his Guion Miller Roll application, William stated that hisfather was born 1808 near Avington, VA. I could not find Avington, VA, but Idid find Abingdon, Washington county, VA.
