Seeking information on the Raney family in Marion or Washington County, KY. As near as I can tell, at least three of my ancestors either lived or were born there. G-grandfather Richard L. Raney, born around 1854 in Marion Co.-moved to Shelbina, MO, with his mother Margaret Eleanor (Hamilton) Raney after the death of his father Richard (age 28+-) in 1858. Another brother George, and two sisters, Harriet and Annie accompanied. Margaret's father was Leonard Hamilton and mother was Mary Ann Beaven. Richard Raney is apparently buried in the Holy Mary Cemetary in Calvary, along with the Hamiltons. The Raneys were all Catholic. There were apparently a total of three Richard Raneys from this area-ggrandfather; gggrandfather; ggggrandfather. It's possible the name may have been spelled Riney, but don't think so.
