Gerald R. “Jerry” Brown of Kuttawa died Saturday, May 30, 2009 in
Caldwell County Hospital in
Princeton,
Ky.
Jerry was born Oct. 22, 1937, the only child of the late Richard and Elsie
Magee Brown.
He retired from the University of
Kentucky as a professor of horticulture. At times Jerry worked in Holland, Egypt and Ecuador assisting in agricultural programs. He and his wife lived in
Scotland for three months while he worked with Scottish researchers. Jerry and Mary had the privilege and pleasure of visiting many countries of the world. He was a member of
Shady Grove Masonic
Lodge #559 in
Crittenden County and a member of Kuttawa United Methodist Church in Kuttawa.
All who knew him would agree that Jerry was a modest, loving and Christian husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be sorely missed.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Mary Martin Brown; two sons, Craig Brown and his wife, LuAnn, of Madisonville, and Kevin Brown and his wife, Melissa of Paducah; two granddaughters, Victoria Brown of Madisonville, and Elizabeth Brown of Paducah.
Visitation is Monday, June 1, 2009, from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. at
Lakeland Funeral Home in Eddyville.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, June 2, 2009, at 11 a.m. at Kuttawa United Methodist Church in Kuttawa with Rev. Jim
Keegan and Rev. Steve
McVay officiating.
Interment will be in
Rolling Hills Cemetery in Eddyville.
