I am looking for Henry Halcomb's parents. He lived in Fork of Beaver Ky, with his wife Martha Medlin Gayhart from 1892- to 1905. Martha was born in 1860. I am not sure of Henry's birth date. Is he in your family?

One might say we must be cousins, I am the Grand daughter of Virginia Hale daughter of Francis Marion Hale and Mary Kathrine Crase. My mother was Genny and Benjamin Whitt's middle child of the 11 living children, Ida Mae Whitt she Married my dad May 10, 1941, I am the 3rd child of Ralph J. Woods and Ida Mae Whitt Woods. I am Margaret Louis Woods Albright. I have wondered what caused some one to shoot and kill Marion Hale, I read some where that it was in his fathers field, there was no explanation. Have you recieved any information since you posted this in 2008. marg222@yahoo.com.

OBIT William Ervin Caudill 1948-2011

NOTE: I DO NOT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THIS INDIVIDUAL. JUST POSTING THE OBITUARY ON WILLIAM CAUDILL FROM THE DAYTON (OH) DAILY NEWS 7/7/11

William Ervin Caudill, age 63 of Fairborn, OH was born March 10, 1948 in Ermine, KY to Roman "Pete" Caudill and Ethel (Sturgill) Caudill and died July 3, 2011. He was preceded in death by his parents, and is survived by his brother, Jimmy Caudill (wife, Sarah) and their daughter, Kimberly Caudill and granddaughter, Emily; sister Jenny Dillon (husband, Terrence) and their two daughters, Katrina Dillon and Kehlen Bushatz (husband, Zachary). As part of close extended family, he will be missed by his many cousins, aunts, and uncle: notably Effie Milliron Caudill and her sons, Ercell Sturgill and family, Carrie Decker and Billy Jean Self. Bill had a number of close friends, including his former bandmates, that regarded him as a brother, and their sense of loss is sure to be immense. Bill also held a special place in his heart for Miss Susie Weiss and appreciated her companionship and comfort in his final years. Bill grew up in Fairborn, and graduated from Fairborn High School in 1966. Following in a rich family music tradition that included the likes of Doc Boggs and the Singing Cooke Family, he developed a mastery of passion for playing the guitar. Although he started playing the guitar several years after his father and younger brother, his rapid development as a guitar player totally overshadowed all others in the local area and revealed that he truly had a special gift for entertainment as a "Guitar Player". During his teenage years, his band:"B.C. and the Cavemen" was arguably one of the best known in the area. They played hundreds of engagements for musical events sponsored by local radio stations such as WING and WONE, and played for many local high school dances. During the 70's, Bill had several different bands and spent many years touring the southern states before returning to the Dayton, OH area. In his later years, he used his finely tuned ear to enter the sound reinforcement business, and in that capacity could be found behind the mixing consoles when many featured artist made appearances at local venues such as Gilly's, Victoria Theatre, Cityfolk, and the Canal Street Tavern. Bill was willing to share his knowledge and ability by giving guitar lessons at the local Fairborn music store, The Band Box, and by training many in the technical craft and subtle art of sound reinforcement. He inspired many of his former students to pursue a career in the musical arts and his sound protégés can be found in recording studios and touring with various entertainers. After spending much of his life before the public, the family will respect his request for privacy by holding no public services. His interment will be at the family cemetery, near the place of his birth, in Ermine, KY. Arrangements will he handled by Newcomer Funeral Home and condolences and found memories can be expressed online at www.NewcomerDayton.com

Good Morning back to you. I can share this much with you. Our generation is considered to be half. This is because Grandma was a full Delaware descent and asorbed by the Cherokee result of the 1838 treaty. Thus our children are 1/4 Cherokee. I have been working on our tree for sometime and have come to some walls. I have be in contact with 3 of our cousins in Ohio though. They don't have any pictures though. I have also found a friend of Maxine's that shared some stories while they were growing up. I guess Grandpa was the biscuit maker. Grandma was blind in her 40s. you can go to Grave finders search my name or put in the grandparents name and a photo of their cemetery and gravemarker is posted. It took me a long time to find where they were buried...Janis the friend told me. Ruth and Ruby both had cleft palates. I know the dentist has always commented on how high mine is. If you would be so kind and scan in your photos of Dad I would be appreciative because I don't have any.
Your Sister

LaRetta

Good morning,
I havent posted in awhile but Im not sure what pictures you were talking about. I have a few of dad but thats about it. I have no real idea about anything regarding dads family. It all started when my daughter started asking me about dads native american heritage regarding college and tuition stuff. I told her I knew we have some cherokee but I have no clue who or how much.. lol... so it got me started looking and I ran into a block with Molly. Im assuming from the census records Thermon was our grandfather and Molly was our grandmother but I have nothing else. Any help you could provide me would be awesome.

Bird/Byrd and Ross family Circa 1922

Looking for anyone with possible clues on my maternal grandparents, Henry Bird/Byrd (bn 18 Sep 1884 in Wayne Co., N.C.) and Elizabeth `Lizzie' Ross (bn ~1903 in Brodhead, Rockcastle Co., Ky.) during their time spent in Letcher County. I'm hoping to find a new clue that could lead me to kin that would have been there in the early twenties.

I have located a death record for an infant male child of theirs, Albert Bird, who was born on 16 Aug 1922 in Jackhorn, and died 30 minutes later. I'm hoping to discover new information that might lead me to other family members that were in Jackhorn...which is a daunting task, to say the least. :)

Since the death record does show that Albert was born prematurely, it's possible that they were just passing through town when this heart breaking tragedy occurred.

I have gathered limited information on them in Campbell and Anderson Counties (Tennessee), but would like information on how they would have been connected to Jackhorn and/or Letcher County, Kentucky.

Thank you for your time.

Thank you for your detailed reply. I'm afraid I should have been more detailed in my question, as I have already located all of the records that you so kindly have provided (even the 1900 Census that I can help but wonder if is my grandfather).

I was looking for information on their brief time in Letcher County, and will edit my original post to be more precise.

I thank you again for your time.

She is the sister-in-law living with Kell & Margaret in the 1920 Seco, Letcher County Census.

Christina (Tena) was married to Herbert Hughes and they lived in Sergent, Ky and raised three girls...(Mary, Audrey, and Irma)there.
