Hi,
I am still on the trail of Henry B. Goodwin and Jane Billups Goodwin. I think I have located the third child, Harrison Goodwin. I am wondering if you have any access to any marriage books in Louisa, and could see if there is indeed a marriage between Julia P Stafford and Henry Harrison Goodwin. Or if you have any idea where I might locate the marriage of this Julia Stafford.
Harrison the youngest child of Henry B Goodwin and Jane Billups Goodwin.
I had some research done for me in Louisa, Ky, hoping to locate something about Henry B Goodwin and Jane Billups Goodwin. That helped me narrow down Henry's death to about the time Harrison was born.
Louisa KY
Found no evidence in the Marriage books that Henry ever performed a marriage in Lawrence County.
Benjamin Burke lived near Henry in the 1840 census
Looked over the land deeds again in person bear with me you’ll see why.
Grantee Index Henry B Goodmin (their spelling) Town of Louisa (by trust) Deed C Page 215 Lot #63 Louisa
Grantors Index Henry B Goodwin William T Nicholls and Co. Mortgage Vol C page 143 July 17, 1840 Property Law Co. Tract lots and Personal Not sure if you noted this or not that he put up 1 negro girl named Sarah and the property was lying on Lick Creek.
Henry B to W F Nichols Co Mtg. Vol. C page 185 July 17, 1841 lots 35, 36, 37 Louisa
Land on the West Side and he put up the same slave girl.
Same as above Vol C page 218 Oct 15, 1841 al property Louisa Lots 35, 36, 37, 38 and Personal responsible to Benjamin Burke. (Burkes are from Pike/Floyd county area and some are in Wayne County WV.

Henry B and Jane to Benjamin Burke Deed C page 498 Jan 13, 1847 Lot 63 Louisa Goodwin sold 1st to James Bartram then ½ to Frazier
H B Goodwin to Zattue Cushing Commissioner’s deed Vol E page 454 April 17, 1857 80 acres Lawrence County. Toward the bottom it says Henry B and in the middle it says May 10 1845 Chancery Court C J Forbes filed a bill against H B Goodwin four 80 acres.
I could not find May 10 in the chancery book it should have been in. It jumps from April to June and was not mentioned in either month.
Charles A Goodwin of Lawrence County Ky to Milton Freese of Boyd County KY deed book H page 55 January 12, 1866. Personal Property Griffeth Creek. Mentioned H H Goodwin and C H Goodwin it looked like to me but I could not tell what they meant. This was a 15 year lease from Henry Williams.
Checked Survey books A- E 1820 to 1855 no Goodwin land at all I’m not even sure where Henry bought his. It must be recorded in KY or VA/WV somewhere.
Book 1 County Court Records no Goodwin’s Book 2 is missing
Book 3 County Court Records October 28, 1844
H B Goodwin for painting blinds for Courthouse $1.50
H B Goodwin for repair of office at Courthouse $1.25
And now for the best part
Same book page 185 Monday 23 day of December 1844
Ordered that Zattu Cushing, James M Rice, Tom Wallace, and George F Hatten be appointed commissioners to settle with Henry B Goodwin late undertaker of the Courthouse and make a report at the next term.
Henry has died and his property was taken per my guess. He would be listed with Jane as the seller in 1847 even if he were not living since women usually could not sell property alone. Not enough detail to state one way or the other. Hard to figure out.
I did not find a report on the following pages but you can see that he has died and that Cushing ends up with his property
Also there was mention of some land from Henry James Williams, ( Frances Ann Goodwin Hubby) to CA Goodwin and HH Goodwin. So Harrion was also known as H H Goodwin. Then
I stumbled on a census looking for Henry B Goodwin that refered to a Henry H Goodwin and his wife Julia P Goodwin both born in Ky in 1844 , Henry H Goodwin had census info saying both of his parents were born in VA.
They were in Prairie, Jackson county, Mo. In searching some marriage records in Jackson county, Missouri records I located not only one of the sons of this Henry but a son of Charles A Goodwin. So I tracked down the obit for Arthur Goodwin, son of Henry and Julia Goodiwn. It mentioned a sister Bertha Scott . I located that sister in the California death index and it mentioned her mothers maiden name, Julia Stafford. This led me right back to Louisa, Lawrence county, Ky. Julia Stafford is the daughter of Williams Stafford in the same census that Jane Goodwin and Harrison Goodwin are in. It has to be him!!! I am trying to locate something from Lees Summit Mo to prove this is my H. H Goodwin, aka Henry Harrison Goodwin, aka Harrison Goodwin. This is what I have locate so far::

It appears Henry H Goodwin died after the 1900 census, and Julia died after the 1920 census. I have to think they are in Jackson county
