I am looking for information about the Knoppe family in Kentucky. Supposedly my ggrandfather owned a saloon in Covington on DeCoursey Ave, but there are no records of a Knoppe ever owning the property. Does anyone have any information about a George Bernard Knoppe (married to a Mae Rose Marie Hoffman) who lived in Covington?

I'm also looking for his wife's family information.

I am George K. Knoppe, son of George L. Knoppe, grandson of George John Knoppe. I have an uncle, Bernard Roegale Knoppe. I will have to ask my dad about the Hoffman name, it rings a bell for sure. My grandfather was Clyde George Knoppe (b 1926 d. 1990). He was son of George Bernard Knoppe (b. 1876 d. 1939) and May Rose Hoffman (b. 1890 d. 1945). George and May lived in Covington KY, and owned a saloon or worked for the people who owned the saloon. They had 2 sons, Clyde George, and another son who is still living. George Bernard died after falling off a roof. After George died, May took her sons and moved up to Chicago, IL. She remarried a man named Clifford Reese.

George's father was also George Bernard Knoppe (b. 1846 d. 1894), however, he lived in the Cincinatti area.

The senior George Bernard was married to Julia Anna Schroeder (b 1848 d. 1915). They had many children (some verified on census records, some listed in family notes that I've not yet been able to verify). Henry Knoppe (b.1870), Annie Knoppe (b. 1872), Louis Knoppe (b. 1874), George Knoppe (b. 1876 d. 1939), Ella Knoppe (b.1878), Benjamin Knoppe (birth date unknown), Edward Knoppe(birthdate unknown) and Charles Knoppe (b. 1884 d. 1935).

According to Census records, both the Senior George Bernard and Julia Anna were born in Germany.

I know that Ella married a man named Arthur Chester Paul. Children unknown. Edward married a woman named Hilda and had children (not verified yet) named Robert and Lourlene. Charles married a woman named Rose Burns.

I am still trying to find information on May Rose Hoffmann and her family, as well as additional information on the Knoppe family, descendants as well as ancestors.

There is a Gregory Kopp b. 1873 d 1956 in Ohio or Kenton Co. Ky. One of his daughters m. William Wimmel. Also Esther (Kopp)Rhein, w/ sister Anna Wimmel living in Cincinnati.
A letter re/Gergory Kopp, b. 7/12/1873 in Oldenburg, Fdranklin co. IN. d. 1/28/1956 in S. Fort Mitchell, Kenton Co. Ky. worked for the Rauh Shirt Co. in Cincinnati. His wife was Anna M. Brill. ch: Gregory C., Fred L., Mrs. Florence Moss, Mrs Wm. Wimmel, Mrs. George Rhein and Mrs. Edw. J. Cassidy.
