James Ward (b. Fincastle Va 1758 - D. Martin Co. Ky 1848) that settled in Martin Co. and married Elizabeth Williamson was NOT the same James "Lemill" Ward ( b. ? probably Va. D. probably Johnson Co. ? ) that settled in Johnson Co. at Offit and was married to Sarah Osborne. There is a good discussion of these two men and their descendants in Billie Edyth Ward's book, Ward Genealogy. She also has a copy of Martin Co. James "pioneer" Ward's Rev war pension application in this book and VERY colorful stories about all his adventures when he was a young explorer at fort Boonesborough ETC. I descend from BOTH of the James Wards and live in Martin Co.
