On a recent visit to St. Boniface Church in Louisville, I looked at one of the documents on display. It was a page from the 1836 register for baptisms. One of the children being baptized was EVA BUCHS, with an umlaut over the U. She was the daughter of MARTIN BUCHS and BARBARA KURIN, with an umlaut over the U. The sponser for little Eva was my great grandmother EVA NICOLAS(NICHOLAS. I believe EVA NICHOLAS came to this country in 1834 through the port of Baltmore. In 1839 she married JAMES SCHNEIDER(?). After his death, she married my great grandfather ADAM HERBST in 1851. I have been unable to find any record of these people in 1840 or 1850 other than the marriage record. I have plenty of HERBST onfo after 1851, but nothing on the BUCKS. Any help appreciated.
