Jobe (Job) Morris is my 3th gr-grandfather. His daughter Kittie Brownlo Morris married James Allen Baker who were the parents of my grandfather Floyd O. Baker. I have not a very good pic of Mary Lakes and 2 pictures of Jobe. I would love to chat with anyone who shares this ancestry.

I am curious if the 3rd picture with the 3 people in it, if the lady in back is Mary Lakes daughter of John and Mary Abrams Lakes?

I do not descend from either but am a Lakes descendant. Jobe was also married to Emaline Carpenter.

I show Jobe and Mary were divorced.

my email is carpenter@bright.net

The lady in the background is Josephine (Rose) Culton Phillips Morris. She was the 4th wife of Jobe Morris. She is the daughter of John Rose and Martha Ann Priest.

thanks,

Donny

Photo shared by Great Great Grandaughter of Canada and Delila through their daughter Alice Morris Slone. What documentation do you have that this is not Delila? I know of only 4 wives for Jobe, Nancy Parris, Emaline Carpenter, Mary Lakes and Barbara Cole (Coyle). I have census records showing Emaline, Mary and Barbara with the last for Barbara in 1920. I am very interested in your information. Thanks for sharing!

Donny-I have sent to your email address the breakdown on Jobe. I could not attach here because it is a word document. Interested in your thoughts. I am wondering if we could be talking about 2 different Jobe Morris's.

Jobe had 4 wives that I am aware of.

1. m. 1860 Emeline Carpenter (my line)

Liason in 1873 with Nancy (Parris) Griffin

2. m. 1877 Nancy Lakes

3. m. 1891 Barbara Cole

4. m. after 1920 Josie (Rose) Phillips "FOURTH WIFE was (maybe, I think, who knows) a lady named Josie Phillips. This information was provided by Delbert Marcum of Sand Gap, Ky. How old were they??? Jobe would have to be in his sixties before he married Josie. Surly she was an older woman. Hopefully they had no children Believe Job Morris is burried at Evarts Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Harlan County, Ky. This marriage is confirmed by Aunt Helen Baker on 1/99. There was no children from this marriage." (this quote is from Lyn Morris who is also researching this line.)

[note by Donny Perry: Jobe Morris was shown on the 1920 census with his wife Barbary. He must have married Josie (Rose) Phillips after this date and before his death in 1928.]

Hey there! Nancy Lakes is actually Mary Lakes. Mary Lakes is the mother to my gr-grandmother Kittie Brownlo Morris Baker. I have a picture of Mary with Kittie and some of the Baker children. I am still not sure about Josie, but I will certainly try to research to confirm. Kittie's grandson, who is in his 80's now, does not know of a Josie, but that does not always mean anything. Thanks for sharing!

In 1936 Josie Rose Phillips celebrated her 80th birthday with her twin sister Eugenia Rose Gray and a few of their children, including postmaster Phillips and Eugenia's grandchild, Russell Fields. I find it hard to believe that she was ever married to Jobe Morris as she would have been Mrs. Morris in the article.

Thank you for the clarification! My family had never heard of a Josie being married to Jobe Morris and I was 99.9% sure she was not, but you never know. Thanks again for setting the record straight.
