My 4g-gandfather, Andrew Jackson Sisk, came from
South Carolina to Hopkins Co, KY and married Mary
Elizabeth "Polly" Wooldridge who came from Virginia.
They were married on June 10, 1823 in Hopkins Co,
KY. I am trying to find the names of Andrew's and
Mary's parents and where in South Carolina and
Virginia they came from. Any information will be
greatly appriciated.

I also have an Andrew Jackson Sisk in my tree. He was born August 22, 1844 in Habersham county Georgia and died Mary 15, 1917 in Toccoa, Ga. He married twice that I have found, 1-Celia Caroline Jones on 10-4-1863 and later to a Florence Whitfield. He fought in the Civil War and I have a photo of him in uniform. He has a Calvary sword in his belt.. His parents were: Gabriel Sisk II and Lucinda (Susannah ) Sosbee. Do you think there is a connection? Please share any info that you might have. Thanks ! Sandy

Sandy, I was born in Lynchburg, VA - my name is Joyce Sisk Creasy and my father was William Oscar Sisk, the son of Elijah Lumpkin Sisk who was the son of Andrew Jackson Sisk. My father was born in Mt. Airy, GA and his ancestors came from Habersham County,GA. Andrew Jackson Sisk was indeed married twice , first to Celia Caroline Jones who was my grandfathers mother and Florence Whitfield who bore him three children and I know Judge was her son and I think ( I can research this to confirm) Elizabeth was one of his sisters - I seem to recall one being Martha. I named my daughter Celia Gay ( my grandmother was Mary Gay Hosea from South Carolina and my father named my daughter after his grandmother and his mother. Andrew Jackson Sisk father was Gabriel Marion who was married to Lucinda (Susannah Sosbee and I remember hearing the name Garrett somewhere. In the Sisk family a good many girls were named Celia Caroline. I have a huge book that came from my father's first cousin, Theodore Sisk of Lexington, Ky. and he acquired it from
Luther Sisk of California who was a direct descendant of Robert Sisk who migrated to Texas . and the family thence migrated to CA. We are definitely in the same family and my book lists most every state of the Union with family history.
