Surnames: FERGUSON
To Whom It May Concern:

I am trying to trace the ancestry of my 3rd Great-Grandmother Robinette FERGUSON. I estimate that she was born ca. 1830-33, since her first child was born in 1851. According to census records for her oldest son my 2nd Great-Grandfather James (Jim) FERGUSON, Sr. she was born in Kentucky or Tennessee. According to family tradition she lived in Madisonville, Kentucky. She was White, and she had four children Moses, James, Polk (twins), and Nicholas. The children were all last named FERGUSON. The children were fathered by John Clemons/Clements who was also born ca. 1825-33. He was born in either Kentucky or Georgia. He was a blacksmith, who was of Caucasian, Native American and African-American Ancestry. Robinette died in Madisonville, Hopkins Co., Kentucky about 1865-1867. James,Polk and Nicholas were sent to live with a Captain STULL until age 21.

Any information would be greatly appreciated!
Thank You!

Hi James (cousin)!
I'm just thrilled to finally connect with relatives of Robinette Ferguson. After reading your post, we're definately related. Robinette was my Great Grandmother. Nicholas Ferguson was my Grandfather. My father was Robert Ferguson, the youngest (b.2-22-1914) of 11 children from Nicholas and Cordelia Clark. Nicholas & Cordelia were married on November 6, 1889 and your 2nd G.Grandfather, James Ferguson is listed as a witness at their ceremony in Madisonville, Kentucky. Your information is correct about Nicholas & his brothers being sent to live with Captain Stull. I have the documents on them, as they were Indentured Servants. You have answered so many questions I had about Robinette Ferguson and John Clemons, since I had very little information on them. Would love to discuss our family history further. Please feel free to contact me
anytime and look at my family tree: Ferguson/Clark/Player/Patterson. Thank you for the information and for posting this message.

Sincerely,
Vanessa Ferguson Calloway
