Ruth D Cothran Egloff, 78, of South Gate, Calif., formerly of Earlington, died Monday, April 24, at 4:30 p.m. in California after a short illness.

Born in Earlington on January 27, 1911, she was the daughter of the late W.L. "Bunk" and Zadie Ann Clements Cothran. She was preceded in death by husbands Francis "Frank" Egloff and Charles Egloff (1974) and a sister, Eula Elizabeth Grant.

She was a 1928 graduate of Earlington High School, the last class to graduate from the Temple Theater. She was also a graduate of Madisonville Business College (1929) and Lockyear's Business College (1930). Until her death she was the owner and manager of An-Tek Hardware Co.

She is survived by a daughter, Nancy Whitt, Buffalo, Mo.; a son, Billy Joe Egloff, West Germany; five grandchildren; three brothers, Manor Cothran, Madisonville, Liggett Cothran and Paul Cothran, both of Earlington; and a number of neices and nephews.

Burial will be in Rose Hills Memorial Park, Whittier, Calif., with graveside rites.
