In answer to Dennis Merrell querry. What Smith family are you looking for?

I have a Smith family I have been searching for, for
some time now. And can't find a lead. It is John Smith
Jr. who married Absale Ann Moore b. abt. 1798-9 N.C.
Married 1817 in Muhlenberg Co.Ky. They were in Hopkins
Co.Ky. in 1850 census. I am sure they must of had more
children than this, but this is what they had in 1850.
John W, Smith b. 1829 Ky.
Ellen Ann Smith b.1831 Ky.
Robert M. Smith b. 1838 Ky.
Mary H.E. Smith b.1840 Ky.
Cinantha R. Smith b.1843 ky.
And may be Simpson Smith b. 1820 Ky. Absaley had a
brother Simpson Moore.

I would like to hear from you. And Thanks alot.

Bunny, My gg Grandfather was John Henry Smith b. Hopkins Co, KY 26 Jul 1819. His parents were John Smith and Nancy Garrett. John Smith died Hopkins Co. in 1824 or 15 Oct 1825. They had 8 children including Byrd, Isaac G., Roxy, John Henry, and perhaps Harriett, Isom and Clem and an infant b. and prob died bet 1820-1824 in Hopkins Co. After John's death Nancy returned to Cabell Co. VA(WV) and married Francis A. Kington, and they went to Illinois where they lived the rest of their lives. John Henry Smith was my gg grandfather, 7th of 8 children. There was at least 4 of the children who went to IL with their mother. I think the 8th child must have died in KY, as there was none younger than John Henry who went to IL. Could any of your Smith's be related, or have you ran across this family in Hopkins Co. They were probably there only 10 years until John died and Nancy returned to WV.

Bunny,

Could you check your Cabell Co. books for John Smith who married Nancy Garrett probably between 1800-1809. John was b. abt 1776 and Nancy b. abt 1783. I think her parents were Benjamin Garrett and Nancy Grimes. I cannot find who parents of John Smith were, and would like proof of Nancy Garretts parents. After John died, Nancy re-married Francis Kington, probably late 1820's in Cabell Co.
