Teresa... I have Cemetery Book Vol. IV which contains Rosedale cemetery. The surnames MERZ and BOWEN are not indexed in the book. You might check and see if there is a Rosedale Cem in or near Princeton. Princeton is only a few miles west of Dawson Springs.

Hi Teresa, I'm from Dawson Springs and still visit my mother and family there about once a month. Rosedale Cemetary is located on Hwy 109 North. The town is tiny and anyone there can point the way to the cemetary. It may be about a mile or two from the only downtown 4 way stop. I'm sorry but I don't recognize your family names. Wish I could help you.

Carolyn

Merz and Bowen families in 1920s

I am looking for information on the Merz and Bowen families that lived in Dawson Springs, Hopkins County, KY in the early 1920s. Elijah Bowen, his wife Margaret Elizabeth Spencer Bowen, and their children(Alger, Callie, Tisha, James, Pearl and Evalena)were supposed to have had a boarding house in the town at that time. On May 1, 1921, Tisha married John George Merz of Louisville, KY in the town of Princeton. The Bowens did not approve of the match because John Merz was Catholic and they were Baptist. John Merz was supposed to have run a five and dime store in the town which went bust after a brief time. Tisha gave birth to twins there in December of 1921 who died due to being premature. The twins were supposed to be buried in Rosedale Cemetery. Where is this cemetery? If you know anything of these families or the location of the cemetery please reply. Thank you for your time.

I would love to know the name and dates of the Rambo's. If you ever find time to look Please do. The cemetary is next to a church on the edge of town, if I remember right. I was there about forty years ago, before I was interested in genology. If I can help you in anyway let me know.

Nancy,

Sorr, I know of no other way to contact you. I can access the Hopkins Co. site, but very few of the individual subjects.

I noticed a few months ago that the site did not look the same at all, very generic but was able to get what info. I needed. However, a week or so ago, I again accessed the site and it appeared as it originally did, but only able to look at a few of the subjects. Too many to list them all. I get the message: 404 NOT FOUND - The requested URL \~kyhopkin/surname/researchers.html was not found on this server on the majority of them.

Thank you.
