Tracy, I also have Nancy Harper who married James Lucas (Jim) Burd as a sister to Mary Elizabeth, as well as a brother, Jacob L. Harper. Jim and Arnold Burd were brothers.

I show Martha Rebecca as a sister to Mary Elizabeth. Martha married John Brooks. I have there were two other sisters of Louisa J and America Ann. I am not sure if there were any other siblings.

You did not mention your relation to the Harpers/Burds.

You've got my curiosity stirred up so I sure would like to make a connection to any of my family researchers. Below is my chart which includes my grandparents from Hart County, Bertha Florence FRED (Jaggers/Harper) and Harry Brents BOLTON (Bolton/Highbaugh/Goff/Shelton). Harry & Bertha had 13 children.

They lived primarily in middle Tennessee from the late 1920s till their deaths in the late 1900s. I think I have removed the names of those still living in 2012. Send any corrections or additions at jminatra 1 @ gmail.com. (That middle 1 is the numeral one.)

Does anyone know who the parents of Jesse Taylor from Hart Co, Ky are? I think he may have been married to Minerva Burd Taylor. His parents were Marshall P Taylor (1826) and Mary Elizabeth Dawson (1830). My initial look at other members' trees seemed to indicate Jesse's parents may be Benjamin Taylor (1780) and Pricilla T Harlan (1775), but I can't find any documented evidence to support it.

I used this book recently to support my line from Stephen Bloyd through Nancy McCubbin to John McCubbin and Sappho Lunnon for a membership application to the DAR. They did not accept this family history book, unfortunately, and I was deeply disappointed. I also used the U.S. and International Marriage Reocrds, 1560-1900, and Family Data Collection, "that do not cite documentary records for the marriage of John McCubbin to Sappho London, or the placement of Nancy McCubbin, wife of Stephen Bloyd, as their daughter." cont. "No further documentation to that effect is cited by Edna Bloyd Nichols and Geraldine Simpson, William Bloyd-Bloyed and His Descendants (1980), p. 1, or Gleason Moss McCubbin, Nicholas "Blind Nick" McCubbin, 1780-1855 (1980). p. 43 McCubbin mentions a marriage bond for Susannah McCubbin that required parental consent, but not for Nancy. The Rockingham County deed extracts that follow, on p. 44, establish no connection between John and Stephen. Neither Stephen nor Nancy is named in John's will. Finally, even though Letha Bloyd bore the correct surname prior to marriage, we have no proof that she was a daughter of Stephen and Nancy; and the claim by Nichols and Simpson that William Bloyd had more than one son introduces multiple candidates for Letha's father. We may date John's birth to before 1755 from the 1800 census, which gives his age as 45 years or more; and we may assign him patriotic service for taking the oath of allegiance that was required for him to enter land grant no. 813, if not for furnishing clothing or specie (the residence of that John McCubbin is not clear from the Revolutionary Army Accounts alone). In consequence, John's elgibility is not a matter of concern at this time. If documentation exists for the parentage of Letha and Nancy, we may be able to verify your application as submitted. The necessary proof may well come from any estate records that Stephen might have left in Green County, Kentucky and any deeds or court cases in which Nancy and Letha joined as heirs at law or successors in interest of their parents."
I now 11/12 have a copy of Stephen Bloyd's "Indenture" -Green Co. Deed Book 21 page 214. filed the day of his death Feb. 17, 1848. Does anyone have a deed or court case in which Nancy and Letha are mentioned? The Perrin History 1887 states that Letha Bloyd was the child of Stephen Bloyd and Nancy McCubbin. I now have marriage proof for Sappho and John McCubbin through a deed for land in N.C. (found on-line NC Archives)
I am still working on the lineage for DAR membership as of 1/13. I still need the obituaries of James Grayson Close 1809-1886 and Letha (Malete) Bloyd 1810-1887 who died in Green County. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!! Janet G.

my taylors lived in metcalfe co,ky. my smiths lived in grayson, hart co(priceville and roseburg) and metcalfe cos,ky.maxwells and maxfields are said to be same. my taylors relate to the maxwells and sidwells of tennessee.the lady who got me started in my roots, was elizabeth williams downing. she was always looking for peter taylor. now i think i relate, but where. my davidsons relate to taylors also. ancestors came from tennessee.

There is/or was Peebles family in Graves County. Also, I found the remmants of an old family burial plot in Carlisle County Kentucky on the Daniel Hayden farm many years ago and I believe the couple of surviving headstones were "Peebles". Within the legend and history of St Jerome Parish at Fancy Farm Graves County it tells that when the community made application for a US post office in the 1830's the Postal Inspector stayed at Mr. Peebles and bestowed the village name of "Fancy Farm".

Have you made any new progress on our William Spencer Burd of Hart County, as to whom his parents were in the past few years? Thanks.

We now have confirmation that Richard Ankrum's line is Group 15 on the Perry Y-DNA group. There is no connection between the Group 3 and Group 15, lines. DNA results posted this week. We walked Richard Ankrum's farm in August but did not find the gravesite. Probably now under lots of leaves and overgrowth. Last was seen in 2002, I am told.

She died Nov 30, 1939 in Glasgow, Barren, Kentucky.

Who do I contact to find an obit for Flossie. She was living in Hart Co. Ky. The burial was in Center Point. The funeral home was in Munfordville, Hart Co. Patterson was the funeral director.

ELIJAH H. SMITH can be found in the 1870 census with his wife and children in Hart Co., KY. He is listed as E.H. SMITH and was the assistant marshall of this census. In the 1880 census, only his wife and children remaining at home can be found living in Princeton, Mercer Co., Missouri. ANNIE SMITH appears as widowed. ELIJAH H. SMITH's occupation was shoe and boot maker.

What happened to Elijah? When did he die? Where was he buried?

Any information regarding ELIJAH H. SMITH and his family would be greatly appreciated.
