I should have ran a search before entering a query. You can probably answer my question. I am at a dead end on my Thompson line. Because it has always been rumored that we were related to the sheriff John Thompson of Randolph County, I thought I could trace his. And did. Had it back as far as my own in under an hour.

Anyway, I'm wondering. Did the William Thompson who was born in MD have a brother named Benjamin? Or a son? Curious because if he doesn't, it just means our relationship to the sheriff was a rumor.

I don't have any record of the William Thompson born in MD having any one in the line named Benjamin, however, it is possible as we have had problems verifying all family members back that far. Have you made any more progress?

i have just discovered a wesley thompson on my tree, no dates were mentioned, but his wife's name is jane merriman and they had a daughter Allice N. (1875- died in Missouri)
allice married William H. Wilson who is a direct line into my mother's side of the tree.
