Would like any information on the parents of John Helm, born in Green County, Kentucky. He appears on the 1880 Green County Census at age 21 (which would put his birth year at abt 1859). He is listed with his 18 year old brother, James H. Helm and his widowed mother, Elizabeth ? Helm, age 37. John Helm is my gg-grandfather. John Helm married Amy Melissia Durrett (daughter of Joe/Joel Durrett and Gillia McCubbins). John and Amy Helm had 8 children. Would like to know the name of his father. (Some in the family say it was David.) Also the maiden name of his mother. (Some in the family say it was Dobson, some have said Wright, it might not be either.) Please Help!!
