Viola Kathryn Moore, 86, of Mount Vernon, Kentucky, died Saturday, June 28, 2008 at Rockcastle Health and Rehabilitation Center in Brodhead, Kentucky. She was born in Grant County on December 19, 1921, the daughter of Willie and Lizzie Burgess Sowder. She was a homemaker and a member of Northside Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Moore; a daughter, Phyllis Ann Lewis; and a brother, James Sowder. Survivors include a son, Billy Smith of Richmond; five daughters, Ella Jo Kells of Williamstown, Peggy Ann Thompson of Dry Ridge, Janie Irene Morgan, Pamela Jean McFerron and Sandy Leigh Bradley, all of Mount Vernon; a stepson, Tommy Moore of Mount Vernon; brothers, Sanford Sowder of Wilmington, Ohio, and William Sowder, Jr. and David Sowder, both of Williamstown: fourteen grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Funeral services were held July 2 at the Dowell and Martin Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Vernon. Burial was in the Cresthaven Memorial Cemetery.
