Would you be willing to share the siblings that you refer to. I am, at this moment anyhow, not a direct descendant, but am doing all lines out of Virginia into Kentucky in trying to determine the parents of my Charles Robertson b ca 1775 in Virginia and died after October 1821 but before February 1 1822.
Thank you.
Antoinette (Tacoma, Washington)

Jeremiah Turpin of Garrard Co KY (1830 census) (1810 - 1880) was born there May 18, 1810, the son of Jeremiah Turpin (1762/3 - 1814) and his wife Ann (Nancy) Robertson (1775 - 1825), both born in VA. He had two sisters that I know of: Eliabeth Jane and Frances. He married Paulina Ballinger (1810 - 1880). They moved to Greene County IL c. 1835. There is no James among his sons (see census of 1850) but could he be a brother of your James?

I read your message on the David Lear Cemetery. I have been there looking for my husband's relatives who are buried there. Would you be looking for the Hardin family? Both times we talked to owners of the property who were very kind and helpful. We didn't know about the chiggers!
Were you able to find the cemetery? I have some pictures if you are interested.

Cindy

Bill - very interesting article you have. Hope you can help me. I'm looking for a John PRUITT - born in Ireland around 1848 - I KNOW he was in America - Lafayette County, MS in 1880. Family mumblings about him says that he and either two brothers or a brother and son came to America with John staying in Mississippi and the brother going on to Arkansas. John had a son born in America named William who went by Bill. Unfortunately the family didn't get much info from him , as many of us didn't. I have not been able to find where three "Pruitt's" were on any ship.
Hope you can help me. Any clues will be appreciated.

Leon -- do not have anything on these, but do have some Garrard Co., Sadlers:

MARY “Polly” PALMER, b. ca. 1790; (dau of Nixon and Mary [Beasley] Palmer) m. 4 Feb. 1811 by Chas. Fennell, Garrard Co., to Edmund SADLER. Listed in the 1820 census, they sold land to James Palmer in 1823.

(Sadler, Edmond	1812	Palmer, Polly	Box 3	Bond 726)

and

NIXON PALMER, (son of John Sr. and Lydia Palmer [John probably a brother to Nixon, above) b. ca. 1806; d. 20 Apr. 1872 Garrard Co. , Ky., [Interior Journal, Stanford, Ky., 26 Apr. 1872, called
him “old and respected citizen”]; m. 15 May 1834 Elizabeth W. “Eliza” SADLER, who was deceased by 1869. Nixon’s
will, dated 2 Feb. 1869, with a codicil added 25 July 1870, was probated at April term 1872. Based on the 1850, 60 and
70 censuses of Garrard County, this is probably the Nixon Palmer who m/2 Lydia MCCOY, 19 Oct 1869.

Issue by Eliza. Sadler:
i. JOHN M. PALMER, b. ca. 1829; one of the administrators of the estate of Lydia Palmer, he was m. by Robt. A. Johnstone, Presb.
Min., Garrard Co., to Nancy MCDONALD Sep. 1850.
ii. ALMYRA PALMER; m. David WHITTAKER

(Nixon Palmer to Eliza Sadler: box 8, bond 2291, 1834)

Hope this helps.

Pat

OBIT Iva Tussey Vollmer 1914-2009

NOTE: I DO NOT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THIS INDIVIDUAL. JUST POSTING THE OBITUARY ON IVA VOLLMER FROM THE HAMILTON (OH) JOURNAL-NEWS 10/1/09

Iva Tussey Vollmer passed from her earthly home to her heavenly home on September 29, 2009 at the Woodland Country Manor. Iva was born June 28, 1914 to Jacob and Julie (Cruse) Tussey, in Paint Lick, KY. Her family moved to Hamilton, OH in 1927 and Iva graduated from Hamilton High School in 1932. Iva worked at the ticket window of the Paramount Theater in Hamilton. On August 29, 1931 she married Walter Vollmer and they would spend their entire married life on the Vollmer Farm in Reily Township (OH). As a city girl going to the farm, she soon learned to work with Walter milking cows by hand, cooking, shoveling corn, plowing fields, baling hay, shocking wheat and corn and raising two sons, Bill and Terry and Alan Rigling whom she considered her third son. Iva and Walter had a great circle of friends - the Wheatley,; Brenners, Romanskies, Grohals, and Binegars for seventy years. Now with Iva's passing the circle is once again complete. She was the last of her generation of both the Tussey and Vollmer families. In 1956 Iva began working at Sears on South 2nd Street in Hamilton. She enjoyed her twenty-three years working there and made friends with Beulah Young and Dot Lorenze. She introduced Beulah and Ken Betz and they have enjoyed more than forty years of marriage. Iva was an active member in the Reily Township Farm Bureau, Reily PTA, Reily Boosters Club and was a reporter for the Oxford Press for a number of years. Iva was an active member of the Oxford Church of the Nazarene as long as health permitted. She was specially close to members of the church family. Iva loved the family farm, her garden, her yard, her canning and freezing the garden goods, her large meals for family and friends, her large old farm house, and her Saint Bernards. Iva was a great daughter, sister, wife, mother, mother-in-law, nanny, great-nanny, aunt and friend. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Walter on March 13, 1990, her brothers, James in 1988 and William in 2004, her granddaughter Tari on September 26, 1997 and her nephew James in 1988. Iva's moral character, integrity, Christian values, love of God and family - all are values she lived and passed on to her family. She leaves her sons and daughter-in-laws, Terry and Lois V. Vollmer and Bill and Lois A. Vollmer. Her grandchildren are Butch (Amy), David (Heather) Jennifer, and Kevin (fiancée Katie) Vollmer. She leaves great-grandchildren, Paige Ruder, Taylor Ruder, Ben, Hannah and Morgan Vollmer. She leaves very best friends, Beulah and Ken Betz, her church family and many friends - Edna Vogel, Anna Hoffman and Gloria Smiley from Woodland Country Manor. Visitation will be held at the Oxford Church of the Nazarene, Kehr Road on October 2, 2009 from 5 to 8:00pm. Funeral services will be held at the church on Ocotber 3, 2009 at 10:00am, with Pastor Ray Grilliot officiating. Burial will be in the family plot in the Springdale Cemetery, Reily, OH. We would like to thank Dr. Bucher, Pastor Ray and Melinda, McCullough-Hyde Hospital staff and the wonderful treatment by all at Woodland Manor. Mom got the best of care from all and family appreciates them so. www.smithoglefuneralhome.com

It has been several years since I have researched anything on the Daly family. There has been a great deal added over time and all seems controversial. I recently read a post stating William Daley, Edmond's father, was born in New Jersey. A first for me. William was Cyrus,Jr.'s Greatgrandfather.

The information I have on Edmond and Mariah came from a cousin in Ky who attends a family reunion in Garrard Co. each year. She said the courthouse in Lancaster has every record from the creation of the county. I do know they had 9 children, William Daley, Jackson Dailey, Cyrus Sina Daley, Mary Dailey, Marion Dailey, Permelia Ann Dailey, unk male child Dailey, Mary Susan Dailey, and Thomas Wesley Daily. Somewhere along the way Mariah is no longer there and Edmond marries Elizabeth Kidd. I agree with the marriage questions. On the marriage bond for Mariah and Edmond it says no return. On the marriage bond for Elizabeth it indicates return date 28 May 1846, performed by Nelson C. Alspaugh, Baptist.
Info from cousin also indictates Keziah was Mariah's Mother. Like Keziah, Mariah goes off the radar after that. I will try to contact my cousin and ask if she has any further info on Keziah and Mariah. I do know all records to date show Stephen was not Daniel's son. On the marriage bond for Edmond and Mariah it indicates the bondsman as John Ford???
tiyohali143--Tell me if I have it right(concerning th mystery of Keziah PHELPS) Keziah Phelps(dob abt 1773) and Daniel Ford had Stephen , Mariah, Parmelia/Melie + more?....Permelia FORD married Daniel PREWITT, Mariah FORD married Edmund Daley. Okay, I using the married designation loosely, because it often questionable. I have note, that Permelia FORD married(or hooked up with) Daniel PREWITT twice.--Anyway, as per census record verification (1860,1870 Garrard Co KY) the PREWITTs were residing around Keziah --I have to rely to on line stuff (mainly ancestry.com) not local research--which you may have access to--I am in TN.--but need that KY stuff.
Keep my email in mind(keep me in the loop)------JUDY ADAMS

I did reply yesterday, but apparently my reply went into cuber-space. I am (also)the 4th grgrand-dau of Keziah PHELPS(FORD)-- directly as so: Me>Ernest Bradley ADAMS>Martha Jane KING(ADAMS)>Mollie WARMOTH (KING0>Jane PREWITT(WARMOTH)
>Permelia FORD(PREWITT)> Daniel Ford and Keziah PHELPS(Ford).--You'll find in the 1870 Garrard Co Ky census (listing for Permelia PREWITT) in 1860 Permelia FORD.(I might have my record years transposed---excuse me if I do, but am typing from memory)--I have note that Permelia(known as Melie, often) FORD and Daniel PREWITT married twice.
Also have note,( with no source listed unfortunantely)that
Daniel PREWITT was the father of Stephen PHELPS, also,as well as Keziah's other children. Stephen was born before they married, or during the separation/divorce time of Keziah and Daniel FORD.)?------Been a couple of years since I worked on this surname line, get back with me. My direct email address
has changed to adams1111@bellsouth.net.----Judy ADAMS
Been there and done all that. I was never able to find anything on Stephen's birth, but I did find a marriage record for he and Malinda which Daniel Ford had signed. Some of the things I had heard was Keziah was born a Phelps, but I am not too sure of that. I have researched the McNitts, the Faures and the Bondurants. Faures and Bondurants connect to another line of my family tree.

Yes, Keziah was my 4th great-grandmother as well. Her eldest son, Stephen Phelps, was my 3rd great-grandfather. Stephen was born prior to her marriage to Daniel Ford. I have the same information as you do on Keziah, but little else. However, I have been able to obtain much information about Daniel Ford over the years. Daniel spent some time serving in the American Revolution alongside St. Clair and later served under "Mad" Anthony Wayne. According to my records, Daniel's parents were Pierre Faure and Judith Maxey. Pierre was a member of the McNitt Company. Daniel and Keziah also had another daughter named Mariah who according to my records married Edmund Dayley. Hope this helps.

Yep, Greene County, Missouri- that would be my family. Stephen and Malinda's son Levi was my great-great grandfather. Levi was married twice once to Mary Jane Payne and to Martha Wallace. Levi and Martha's son was my great-grandfather, Thomas Stephen Phelps, born in Republic, Missouri December 31, 1872. My grandmother was born in Brookline in 1919. Great-grandpa Thomas and my Great-grandma Elmyra Byfield moved to St. Louis during the Great Depression and that is were my grandparents met and were married. I grew up in southeast Missouri, but now live in Erie, Pennsylvania, oddly enough near were "Mad" Anthony Wayne's body was first buried. (Now, Anthony Wayne, that is quite the story.

Then I found a Chester Garvice Holmes born the same date and place on a North Carolina Death Index along with the Social Security Death Index. They both show the same death date of 31 Oct 2001, Jacksonville, Onslow Co., North Carolina. His parents were Major R.O. Holmes and Sallie C. Holmes.

There is a Chester G. Holmes b 14 Jul 1951, Garrard Co., KY, listed in the US Public Index, whose mother is listed as Ruth Woodward. This could be a nephew of the first Chester G. or a son by another wife. It may be worth your time looking into if you are still interested.

I have some interest in the Richardson family, but do not find Owen and Susan in the published Paint Lick Cem. records? If a location or section of the cemetery is known, I can add the names to the published book.
Stephen seems to be the key to Keziah's history. I found Daniel signing as a bondsman on a Hilton marriage in 1820 in Fayette co. but not much more there. This lady is a mystery. I am beginning to think she may have been married to a Phelps first and then Daniel. If Stephen was born in Ky there should be a paper trail for his birth. I found a site for all of the Ford info. I don't know if you have seen it but FYI search Ford/ Mcknit and the Bondurant ancestory.

Rebecca M. Daley was my GG Grandmother's daughter. Her brother Cyrus Sina Daley, Jr. was my G Grandfather. Rebecca died 08 Jun 1953. Salem and Rebecca Jane's parents were
Asa Saddler b. 1797 Va/d. 17 Jan 1852 in Garrard Co. Ky.
Rebecca Leveridge b. abt 1790 in Va/d. 1866 in Garrard Co. Ky. Funny thing, Minnie A. Daley was shot and killed by Ben Poindexter. Minnie was married to a C.R. Poindexter. I also have a reply that says Salem was killed at Scots Fork, Garrard Co.Minnie was Rebecca Daley's sister. Rebecca M.'s Aunt wa Almira Burnside Daley. So, maybe Elvira/Alvira may have been Almira and misspelled along the way????

Isaac married Anne Crow on 6 Dec 1816 in Garrard Co. She was born in 1801, not sure where. They had four children that we are sure of. There are gaps between the ages so there may have been others but when we discovered a 1916 lawsuit challenging the division of the estate of their half brother J william Carrier, It showed that these four were the ones who survived to adulthood and had decendents.

Sarah W was born on 26 July 1819 and married my ggggrandfather David Homan in 1842. She died on 9 Dec 1878. She had seven children. Pleasant(male), was born in 1820. All the children were born in Garrard Co. He married abt. 1856 to Letty Crow. I have not been able to establish a relationship between the Crows. He had seven children. Sophronia was born in 1828 and married Berry Lawson on 23 July 1846 and had three children. (She, for some reason always told her family that she was the child of Solomon, Issacs brother who married a Mary Polly Crow in 1813 in Garrard Co. He also moved to Washington Co and raised his family there). The proof was in the Lawsuit that we discovered in 1916 when Isaacs son J William, son of ancy Calhoon Carrier, and a half brother to the first four, passed away and Pleasant Jr. filed suit because he felt he should get a full share instead of a half share. The court papers list all the children and their heirs. If Sophronia hadn't been a sister, I'm sure Pleasant would have done a whole lot more complaining, rather than give up what he thought was his! The last child, Frances Emily was born in 1830. She married James Cutsinger. A widower who already had seven children and they had ten more.

Anne died in 1831. Issac remarried in 1842 to Nancy in Garrard Co. and they moved to Washington Co.

If I can anymore, let me know. Bonnie

Isaac Carrier is the father of my ggggrandmother, Sarah w Homan. She was the first of 4 children he had with his first wife, Anne Crow. Anne died in 1831 and Isaac remarried in 1832 to Nancy Calhoon. they had three children and He died in 1871. His first family consisted of Sarah, Pleasant (male), Sophronia and Francis Emily Carrier. The Second, as you know, were J William, James H, and Caroline Calhoon Carrier.

Sarah married David Homan, Pleasant married Letty Crow, Sophronia married Berry Lawson and Frances married James Cutsinger. Just as a note of interest, Isaacs brother, Solomon, married Mary Polly Crow.

My sisters and I have spent our vacations in Kentucky for the last four years doing research on our family and are leaving in three days to go back. We live in Illinois and our father, Joseph Rodman Homan was born in Willisburg and came to DeKalb Illinois as a young boy so his stepfather could find work. I hope this helps you, anything else I can give you , let me know. Bonnie
