I need to speak to pastor at this church. Does anybody have a phone number for him? I am in need of old church records. I read that William Turner and Edward Turner of Back Creek were the early founders. I need info on both of them and on Back Creek.
Is Back Creek in Garrard Co? If not then I think they were referring to Back Creek Virginia.
I need to be sure that my william turner was the son of charles turner in virginia....
any help at all is appreciated.

Interesting you should ask. Not that I know the pastor, but yes, there is a Back Creek in Garrard County, near Point Leavell flows into Paint Lick Creek, near the Madison County line, and Buckeye is right there.

I am interested because my 4great-grandfather, Nixon Palmer, married one Mary Turner as his second wife, (the first was mary Beasley) in 1803, at age 55. There were no bonds listed, so we really have no idea whether Turner was her family or married name.

There were some lawsuits filed in connection with her having "left his bed and board" or words to that effect. Apparently it didn't work out to well.

I hope you find something on the church. I have found cemetery records, but nothing that indicates there is a functioning congregation at this time.

I also have an interest n Buckeye Baptist.
I have heard there is a picture downstairs of a man who was a pastor there. It is James Prather. I would like to get with someone who would let me bring a camera and take a picture of that picture. James Prather is my 5th great grandfather.

The Buckeye Cemetery is located at the current Liberty Baptist Church on Buckeye Road in Garrard County, KY. Services are still held there. It's a very small church. There is no listing in the phone book. My best guess is that the church is too small to afford a telephone. I will see if I can find a number for you to contact the preacher. There is a small sign in front of the church.

If you turn off Buckeye Road at Teatersville Road and go over the hill, there is actually a road called Back Creek Road. Back Creek runs in that area. Just down Teatersville Road from where you turn onto Back Creek Road, you will cross over the creek into Madison County, KY.

The Sign in front of the church says "Dallas Murphy" Pastor. It does not list a phone number. I looked in my phone books and did not find a listing for Dallas Murphy. However, I did see a listing in one of the books for a D. Murphy.
