I'd like to hear from anyone knowing of any of the persons mentioned in this short "sketch":

Our connection with the HURT family is through Sallie Belle HURT, dau of John Harrison HURT and Eliza Ann YATER (YEATER). Sallie Belle married to John Wesley TATEM (spelled TATEM-E-M at that time, earlier it was TATUM). John Harrison HURT was born 7 April, 1822, in Garrard Co., Ky.,and died in 1908, to Henry HURT and Nancy DANCY. Henry HURT was the brother of Smith HURT.

John Harrison HURT married second wife, Eliza Ann YATER, 27 June, 1854, in Garrard Co., Ky. She was the dau of Coonrod YATER and Keziah SADDLER.
I am looking for those interested or knowing of one Samuel Harrison TATUM, of Silver Creek, Madison County, Kentucky, born 9 September, 1821, in Knox County, Kentucky. He married to Amanda MOBERLY, a daughter of Jacob MOBERLY and Catherine TUDOR, in Madison County, Kentucky, on 27 May, 1850. Their children would be:

A. Matilda Catherine "Kate" TATUM, born in December, 1852, in Madison County, Kentucky. She married a man with the surname of HATTER.

B. William Bloomer TATUM, born 3 September, 1856, in Madison County, Kentucky. He is buried in the Gilead Church Cemetery near Kirksville, Madison County, Kentucky.

C. Joseph Alfred TATUM, born 8 February, 1860.

D. Mary Jane "Mollie" TATUM, who married John HAMMONS and then Timothy LAMB.

E. John Wesley TATUM, born in 1861 and married Sallie Belle HURT, a daughter of John Harrison HURT and Eliza Ann YATER. Their children were:

E1. Elizabeth "Lizzie" TATEM, born 16 September, 1883, and died 6 January, 1932. She married William A. "Bill" PARSONS, born 23 July, 1879, and died in April,1963. Buried in Lancaster Cemetery, Lancaster, Garrard Co., Ky.

E2. Eliza TATEM, born 14 December, 1886, and died 20 March, 1970. She married (1) William "Bill" BAKER and (2) William "Bill" KING. Buried Lancaster Cemetery, Lancaster, Garrard Co., Ky.

E3. Myrtle M. TATEM, born 29 March, 1890, and died 24 October, 1952. She married Henry Harrison COLDIRON, born 21 March, 1889, a son of William COLDIRON and Emily MOORE. Henry died 25 May, 1954. They are buried in Rose Hill Memorial Park in Hamilton, Butler Co., Ohio. Their children were Earl V. COLDIRON, born 6 Januray, 1913, and died 23 July, 1964; and Thelma (COLDIRON) WILSON, born 1910, and died in 1968, the wife of Louis B. WILSON.

E4. John Harrison TATEM, born 10 July, 1893, and died 25 December, 1980. He married Mary DAY, the daughter of Albert S. DAY and Lucretia "Christie" LEDFORD, on 10 July, 1918, in Richmond, Ky. Their son was Caryle Glenwood TATEM, born 14 November, 1919, in Garrard Co., Ky.

E5. William McClelam "Clell" TATEM, born 28 October, 1895, and died 3 July, 1973. He married (1) Alice Mittie COLDIRON, born 10 December, 1894, and died 22 March, 1936. Their children were: William Vernon "Bunk" TATEM and Shirley TATEM. His second wife was Elsie SOWDERS. Clell and Elsie had a son, Terry TATEM.

E6. Grace TATEM, born 1 August, 1899, and died 30 January, 1985, at Mt. Vernon, Ky. She married Ellis BELL.

F. Samuel J. TATUM, who died in Crab Orchard, Lincoln County, Kentucky.
Samuel TATUM died on 25 May, 1887 and is buried in the Gilead Church Cemetery in Madison County, Kentucky. Amanda (MOBERLY) TATUM, Samuel Harrison TATUM'S widow, moved to be near her son, Samuel J. TATUM, in Crab Orchard, Lincoln County, Kentucky, and died there in 1907. She is buried next to Samuel J. and his wife, Eliza, in the Crab Orchard Cemetery, on the hill...

Would you happen to know if they perhaps had a son, too, by the name of Samuel Harrison TATUM, born in 1821? This man lived in Silver Creek, Madison Co., Ky. He married to Amanda MOBERLY, the dau of Jacob MOBERLY and Catherine TUDOR.

I know that his father was also a Samuel TATUM. I wondered if it could have been the one that married Matilda GOINS

Mr. Lawson,

-------------------

Regarding your comment:
"Amanda (MOBERLY) TATUM, Samuel Harrison TATUM'S widow, moved to be near her son, Samuel J. TATUM, in Crab Orchard, Lincoln County, Kentucky, and died there in 1907. She is buried next to Samuel J. and his wife, Eliza, in the Crab Orchard Cemetery, on the hill..."

-------------------

I am pretty sure that the Amanda M TATUM who died in 1907 and is buried in Crab Orchard Cemetery

http://www.nose4bs.com/Ky_CO_Cem_04.htm

is Amanda Holman, the daughter of James and Martha (Ramsey) Holman, and the wife of William P. Tatum.

http://www.nose4bs.com/FL_James_Holman.htm

She is buried next to her two children [Mary F (Tatem) Collier and Samuel J Tatem], and her sister-in-law [Claudia L (Carson) Holman].

The distribution of the estate of her son Samuel J Tatem (died Nov 29, 1944 in Lincoln County, Ky) suggests that her husband (William P. Tatum) was the brother of Samuel Harrison TATUM who married Amanda MOBERLY.
