Franklin County in 1813. He purchased land on the waters of
Elkhorn Creek from William
Gaines and his wife, Sarah. One known brother,

Baker and his wife, Peggy
Roberts had the following children; Peggy - born prior to 1807; John - born March 15, 1812; Allen - born 1815;
Dudley - born 1816; Elizabeth - born 1815 and
Willis - born 1819. Son, Allen
Baker married Catherine "Kitty"
Sams on March 27, 1837 in
Franklin County,
KY. Her father, John
Sams gave his consent. Allen
Baker died in 1870. Property division of the estate of John
Baker in 1846 and 1847 indicate six children. The children lived close after marriage and continue their attention to each other. Dudley was the administrator for the estate of brother, John, when he died in 1878. As one studies the maps, location of homes and the burial sites will soon determine that this family did not migrate far from the
Peaks Mill district in northern
Franklin County. Many descendants of John
Baker are living in
Franklin County today.
