I am having difficulty pinning down what became of my great grandfather, Ben McCoy. I have him living with Verdie and son Irvin/Irwin in the 1930 census and know he fathered my grandmother in 1935, but haven't found any evidence of him after 1935. My father told me that Ben served time for murder or manslaughter but has no details about the conviction or prison sentence. My search is complicated by the fact that I cannot determine for sure whether he is the son of Nathanial (Nathan/Naith) McCoy or Eli McCoy. I believe he could be "Harrison McCoy" in the household of Eli McCoy in the 1910 census, but only because i know he was born in West Virginia around 1899/1900 and I am given to believe his middle name was Harrison. But he could also very well be "Ben McCoy" listed under Nathan McCoy. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!
