Tom,
I've read the census for Leo TIBBATTS in 1860 and 1870.
In the 1870 Census there is an older woman age 76 whose first name is AMERICA.
It is my understanding Leo and Congressman John W. TIBBATTS were brothers.
Could AMERICA TIBBATTS in the 1870 census be the mother of Leo and Congressman John W. TIBBATTS?
