Matt Lewis/William Davis

Looking for information on my wife's grandfather. Not much is know about him as he married Valborg Landsverk before 1935 under the name of William Davis or William Davies. This was an assumed name and it was later found that his real name was Matt Lewis and he had another family in Kentucky. According to what little information I can find, he died in Rowan, KY or Sandy Hook, Elliott, Kentucky in September of 1990. All children changed their name to Lewis once this was discovered and the couple later divorced. According to the information I have, he was born, August 7, 1907. However, he is listed as William Davies in the 1940 census (Rio, Columbia, Wisconsin) as 31 years old and being born in Indiana. Any information you have to help solve this mystery would be greatly appreciated.

James CASTEEL (1793-c1877) is my 4th Great-Grandfather. It appears many folks have Jon CASTEEL, Cherokee, as James' father. However, the majority of these individuals also list Jon CASTEEL'S ancestors from England. So...my question to CASTEEL desendants is (1) Does anyone know of a STEELE / CASTEEL male who has taken the FTDNA {Y-DNA} test through Family Tree DNA? This test should show Native American DNA. My line is (1) James CASTEEL & Elizabeth "Betsy" CASSELL/CASMELL (2) Simpson CASTEEL & Parthena Hale (3) George Washington CASTEEL/STEELE & Amy SEXTON (4) Julia "Julie" Belle STEELE & Benjamin B. MORRIS - My Great-Grandparents. By the way....Benjamin B. MORRIS is the son of Sarah F. SPARKS who is the great-granddaughter of Thomas SPARKS (1766-1837).

Looking for the mother of Robert. He was born on 10 Mar 1865 to George Washington Crisp. His death certificate lists his birthplace as Elliot Co.

The death certificate also lists Elizabeth Crisp as his mother. Sarah Elizabeth Sergeant (went by Elizabeth) was George's second wife, born in 1856. The math doesn't work.

According to the 1880 Census, the 3 are living in Floyd County Kentucky. Elizabeth is listed as being born in WV, and the spot for Robert's mother is listed as KY. There doesn't appear to be any full brothers/sisters of Robert, as the 3 others in the home in 1880 are 4, 2, and 1 month.

Does anyone have any information that might help me? Either directly, or guidance that might help me find the answer on my own?

Martie - this message was written years ago and even updated years ago. I wonder if you'll ever come back and read what I'm going to write. Well....I invite anybody who sees this who is doing Eldridge genealogy to please contact me. I just started working on it and find it so confusing.

Some of my great grandparents are Elijah Smith & Lucinda Blanton. Their daughter Elisabeth married James Eldridge as you all know ( if you're up to date with this ).

The women in this line are what I'm working on now because I've had my mitochondrial DNA done. Interestingly enough I found some matches to my DNA and one lady I met - she is just now figuring out her family tree and we are trying to see how we connect. I believe it is through the Eldridge line because she has a Nancy Eldridge in her maternal line. But I can't figure her out.

Also there is a Joshua Eldridge that I'm trying to work on as well. I see that some people are saying that there is a Joshua who married Fanny Elliot and then I see others talking about a Joshua Eldridge married to a Jemima Patrick.

My question is this...are these the same men? Or, are they different but in the same family?

Okay, sorry for all the questions - but as you see I really could use some educated imput here.

Thank you so much ( in advance ) if you answer me.

Christie

Hello, I just read your inquiry about Ellen Cline Kinser. Have you ever found anything on her? I am her great, great granddaughter. I have found sometimes her married name is spelled Kinster, with a "t". Her husband's name was "Jim" or James. I have no birth dates or death dates on them. Alice Kinster was born to them on Jan. 29, 1875 and died March 21, 1937. I was age 4 at the time of her death. Alice married Benjamin Franklin Bair who was born Feb. 14, 1875 and died Oct. 15, 1918. My Mother, Anna May Bair was born to them on Aug. 29, 1907 and died April 24, 1995. She married Rufus Anthony Williams May 28, 1927. I was born to them on Dec. 23, 1932. I have four siblings.
Lillian (Williams) Liming

I am looking for information regarding my Great Grandfathers family. I know that there were three brothers who came here from Ireland. They settled in Kentucky. My great grandfather had an argument with his brothers over politics so he moved to Wayne County, West Virginia. I'm not sure if he added the Mc to his name or not. He married Mary Victoria Blankenship.

I've pieced together what I know about his death (he appears to have been killed by a railroad car in Prairie, Ohio, in May of 1910) and am happy to share.

I have been trying to trace my line of the Waddell's for almost 20 years. I am related to Jordan Waddell born about 1897-1898 in Rowan Co, KY in 1930 per the census he was in Portsmouth, Scioto Co, OHIO and married to an Elizabeth Edna (Sprouse?) list as their adopted daughter age 2 is Birdie Lou Waddell. The legal and government papers that I have say that Birdie was living on a reservation in Florida until she was adopted by an Ohio couple. That Birdie is full blooded Cherokee Indian. I have more information on this and where I found Waddell's listed as Indians and also why it is so hard to find correct information about Indian births for some areas of the country. Send me an email and I will happily share what I know on the subject and how I know first hand about Indians having incorrect information list about their race. If you or anyone less has any information on my line of the family I would appreciate the help and information, because I am stuck.
