I believe I was in contact with you before but have been offline for about 6 mos. Fanny SELF and Elizabeth SELF are the sisters of my gggrandfather Guy P.M. SELF. I have been spending time on trying to go past their father, John Self, but since no luck, am trying to expand on siblings and their descendants. Would appreciate sharing information with you.

Have found some good information in History of Cumberland County by J.W. Wells. You may have also. Would like to hear from you.

Goggin-Jackman

Info I have regarding my ancestor William Goggin of Cumberland County is that he was married to Drusilla Jackman in Lincoln Co.,VA(I think this area may have later become part of KY,but at this time of day, don't wantto bet on my geography). I am descended through their son Milton who married Nancy Carty and then moved to Missouri. We show at least 11 children for William and Drusilla. Which child of William would you be a descendant of? Have seen info (undocumented)that also refers to Robertson,Roberts & Roberson. Would be interested in trading info & documentation as there must be several thousand descendants of this Cumberland County family and of course a correct record for future generations is what we seek to provide. Hope to hear from you soon.

Hold the fort. These are my relatives and something is wrong with your facts or mine. I have William Goggins 1760-1833 married to Drusilla Robertson in SC before they came to Cumberland Co. They had eleven children part born there part born here. Please e-mail me so we can get this corrected. thanks bkc

Was searching for Cumberland Co. for descendants of William GOGGIN & Drusilla JACKMAN. Have note that their daughter Matilda GOGGIN married Guy SELF. Would this be your ancestor Guy SELF? Also have note that Lucy GOGGIN married Thomas CLAYTON. If these are yours please contact me at my email address.

I believe that Jackman is correct as Drusilla's maiden name. I know that there were at least 3 marriages involving Jackman & Robertson children as well as a marriage of a different Goggin to a Robertson. Many of these families came to the area that became Cumberland county,Kentucky at approximately same times. So far as I can determine we don't know Drusilla's middle name & it wasn't unusual to give surnames as middle names at that time. Also it may have been passed down at some point that she was a Robertson in an accidental way, perhaps some reference to her folks being some of the Robertsons (who were related to the Jackmans by marriage.)with the meaning that her family was related, not necessarily that her parents carried that name. If you can find a copy of John Carty and 4000 Descendants I believe it lists documentation regarding the mariage of Drusilla Jackman & William Goggin.

I got my information from the "History of Cumberland Co. KY" History book by J. W. Wells. It said William Goggins married Drusilla Robertson in SC. I would be very interested if her name was really Drusilla Jackman. Perhaps one is a name from a previous marriage.

Hi Carolyn!!!
Long time since I got to talk to you!! My new email is damoonldy@aol.com
What would be the earliest date that you think you can find documentation that William & Drusilla were in Cumberland Co? (Bet you see the wheels in my little mind turning, don't you?). Think that perhaps I have located a trace of them between VA and Cumberland Co.,KY.
Also found notation in Cumberland County deeds transcrription where William & Drusilla Goggins transfer some land to William Hunter of Wayne County 1/10/1814; B-338.
What have you come across date wise for Drusilla? (I am still trying to work out approximate on her death date & where she may have died or been buried.)
Annie

I really do not have anything showing Drusilla & William Goggins were in Cumberland Co. KY. I do have, however documentation showing they were in Lincoln Co.
In the Lincoln Co., Virginia/Kentucky Deed Abstracts 1781-1795 Volumn !. Compiled By Ann Pennington MacKinnon, Peggy Selby Galloway and Michael C. Watson

It shows on 19 June 1787--Richard Jackman and Mary his wife County of Lincoln were selling for 100 pounds...100 acres, part of the preemption granted to said Richard on both sides of Hanging Fork of Dick's River...BEGINNING AT WILLIAM Goggins' line.

ALSO on 22 Aug 1787 Richard Jackman & wife Mary, Licnoln Co sold to WILLIAM GOGGIN for 100 pounds...300 acres also part of a preemption obtained by Jackman located on Hanging Fork of Dick's River.

Finally I have a copy of the marriage of William GOGGIN and Drusilla Jackman on 8 Dec 1785 from the Lincoln Co, Ky Marriages & Tombstone 1780 - 1850 by Dunn that you so kindly sent me.

The History of Cumberland Co Book (by J W Wells) mentions all their children but no dates. It also says Drusilla was a Robertson instead of a Jackman. There is a Robertson-Jackman connection between Drusilla's Aunt Hannah (sister to Richard Jackman. Hannah Jackman was married the 1st time to John Smith and the 2nd time to Samuel Robertson Sr.
Information on this can be found in the Pioneer History of Washington Co, Ky by Michael & Bettie Cook.
