My 3rd gr-grandfather Michael Duke, son of Matthew (1758-1835), was married in Clark County, Kentucky, to Hannah Dean on 28 December 1814, according to information provided to me many years ago, from "Marriage Bonds of Clark Co., Kentucky" by George F. Doyle, 1933, page 109.
Charles Bean is listed as surety. As I understand it, surety was often, but not always, the bride's father, so there is some question in my mind as to whether Hannah's surname was Dean or Bean.
Are the Clark County Marriage bonds available anywhere online so I can check the accuracy of the information?
Or does anybody have information on the family of Charles Bean of Clark County? The Dukes were originally from Berkley County, Virginia and were neighbors of an Isaac Bean, so it's likely that Charles Bean could have been from that area originally.
This is a long-standing mystery to me, and I re-visit it periodically in hopes of solving it.
