If anyone has any information concerning the George Paintner family that immigrated here from Germany in the mid 1800's please contact me. George had a brother that we think settled in New York and one or more that stayed in Germany. George is my great grandfather.

My great grandfather was also George Paintner, family tells me he was from Swandorf Germany. I found that he may have lived on Ash street in Buffalo NY mid 1800's. Several Paintners still live in NY City, one named Sol, he also has a residence in FL. If this is the same George Paintner he settled in ND. George's offspring was my Grandfather Joseph George, died in 1964, Fargo ND. Some Paintners publish articles on various subjects in Germany, some in University of Regensburg (magnetic levitation/material sciences), not to far from Swandorf, others are in Munich, a street in Stuttgart bears the name as well. Probably of little help to you. I am curious what the name translates into. Jewish people used it as a slang for drunken handyman. Not very nice. VR Mark

Hello Julie and Dayna - A relative of mine, Vanus Louden (Loudon) married Lawrence Peter Paintner and eventually settled in the Lincoln City, Oregon area. Vanus was born in ND, but they had at least two children in Hennepin Co. Minnesota. I am just starting to connect with this family, but would like to share Paintner/Loudon/Louden information if you are interested. Thank you! Susan Manz Graham sug53@earthlink.net
