I have Oglesby's in Christian & Logan Counties in KY. I have a Constant OGLESBY b. ca 1740 in VA, who was married to a Nancy COURSEY. There must be a connection somewhere.

Constant R. Oglesby, was born May 27, 1831 in Christian Co.

I have a Constant Jacob Oglesby, Jr. b. 1-22-1788 in Edgefield co., SC who married Nancy Knight b. 2-7-1792. They married on 10-30-1810 in Christian co., KY. I know of two sons: Stephen Decatur b. 1820 & Gustavas Adolphus b. 1830. By 1850 these brothers are in Henderson county, KY (per census records). Gustavas married into my lines but not a direct branch. He married Mary Elizabeth Shelton (my GGG Aunt) on 4-14-1852 in Henderson county, KY. This is where most of my lines ended up.

I only responded because we both have a Constant in our lines. I have no idea what other children may be connected to Constant & Nancy, but your Walker is of the right age to be a son, and the fact that he named a son, Constant, could be more than a coincidence.

I would think there is a very good chance that there`s a connection between the families. The Walker Oglesby that I`m
looking for, was born abt. 1798 in Va, and is possibly a brother or cousin to your Constant. In addition to Constant
R.(my gr. gr. grandfather), other possible children`s names are: Pleasant W., Jesse A., Mary J., James H., Naomi, Christine, and Harvey N., all born in Ky. They are all in Il, by 1840. If you feel there might possibly be a conection

Steve, I wonder if the Walker Oglesby you are looking for might be the son of John oglesby and Jane (unknown). I have John was born 1751/1758 in Va. and must have died before 1810 as Jane is listed as head of household and always in neighborhood close to John's brother Constant Oglesby who was my ancestor. John and Jane had two sons that I have record of; Daniel married Matilla Meredith 22 Jan. 1823 Hopkins Co., Ky. . Later moved to Union county, Ky. the second son was Walker Oglesby born about 1798 and married Sally Durham 5 May 1824 in Christian co., Ky. There was also a daughter Ann Oglesby who married John Knight 18 Oct. 1840 and died 10 Oct. 1856 Christian co., Ky.

Jean, I have connected the Walker Oglesby you mention to my family by marrige records in IL listing Walker & Sally Durham as parents. I would love to see what you have connecting him to John Oglesby. I can't go further back but can give you some information on Walker's son Pleasant(My gggrandfather) and his decendants. I also have some information on Harve Oglesby another of Walkers sons. I have found lots of Oglesby's living in and around Christian Co but never been able to make a connection to anyone.

My Walker Oglesby m. Sally Durham 5 May 1824. Their son (my gr.gr.grandfather) was Constant Ritcherson Oglesby (named after his uncle?) b. 27 May 1831 in Christian Co. I`m pretty confidant in all of this information. Walker`s parents and beyond have been a bit of a problem.
