I am convinced that Nellie Lewis (b ca 1830) that married William Pope is the daughter of Nathan Lewis and Ellen Roark. Contact me for my arguments/documentation. I have seen most trees put Nellie Lewis that is born 1849 as the daughter of Nathan and Ellen Lewis. Either Nathan and Ellen had two daughters by the name of Nellie, or Nellie Houck is not a daughter of Nathan and Ellen. Nellie shows up on the 1870 census in Carter County with her husband, Sam and Father-in-Law, Jessee. Elizabeth Lewis is also living in the same household. In Nellie Houck's Obituary, it says that she and her husband came to Carter Co. with their parents. Also, Ellen Lewis would've been 58 when she had Nellie. My theory is that Nellie Houck is the daughter of Nathan and Ellen's daughter-in-law, or unmarried daughter, Elizabeth. I would like any information to support, or not, my theory.
