BELLE GIBBS -- 1908

Twice-A-Week-Leader
Princeton, Ky.
November 17 1908
Tuesday

Mrs. Belle Gibbs, wife of Mr. J. H. Gibbs, after a long illness of several months breathed her last shortly after midnight Friday night, thus yielding her life back to Him who gave it.

Although a great sufferer since early last March, Mrs. Gibbs bourn her affliction with great patience and endurance and up to the very end of her existence almost without a murmur of complaint, she having realized for months the nearness of the end. With the full knowledge of the final result of her illness, her devoted husband, through skilled physicians and trained nurses, did everything in his power to alleviate her suffering as much as possible during her entire illness.

Some weeks prior to her death, she was sent to Louisville for treatment by a noted specialist of that city, but claiming that nothing could be done other than which had already and was being done for her here at home, she was sent back only to await the coming of the last summons.

Mrs. Gibbs, whose maiden name was Miss Keebler, was born and reared in Metropolis, Illinois. She was twice married, being the widow Morris, when she was married to Mr. Gibbs, January 16 1885. In 1896, they moved to this city since which time this had been her home. She was born June 10 1858.

The funeral services conducted from the family residence on Harrison and Washington streets by the Rev. R W Morehead, Saturday afternoon were largely attended as was also the interment in the city cemetery. Mr. Gibbs, the bereaved husband, has a sincere sympathy of the entire community in this, his great loss.

Note:
city cemetery = Cedar Hill Cemetery, Princeton, Ky.
