Rev. L. C. Gray, 73, of Owensboro, died Sunday, Aug. 2, 2009.
Born July 19, 1936, a son of the late Albert and Effie
Williamson Gray, in Lyon County, he was a member of Crosspointe
Baptist Church, and was a graduate of
Butler High School in
Princeton.
He attended Mid-Continent
College and Kentucky Wesleyan
College, surrendering to the ministry on Mother’s Day, 1956. He served as pastor of
Cedar Bluff
Baptist Church in
Princeton,
Epley Station
Baptist Church and
Oak Grove Baptist Church, both in Russellville,
Pleasant View
Baptist Church in Clarksville, Tenn., and Glenville
Baptist Church and Parrish Avenue
Baptist Church, both in the Owensboro area. He served on several mission trips to Guatemala, Brazil, Russia, Romania and Belize and led evangelistic teams to Honduras, where he was instrumental in beginning a church. He also spent 23 years as a full-time evangelist, preaching revivals and
Bible conferences.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Teresa Gray; and a brother, Willard Gray.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Nadine
Crenshaw Gray; two daughters, Rhiannon Gray and Anita
Wilson and husband
Matt, all of Owensboro; two grandsons, Rev. Kenny
Rager and wife Taran
Smith Rager of Hartford, and Nicholas
Adams of Princeton; a brother, Billy Gray and wife Joann of Newburgh, Ind.; a sister-in-law Dottie Gray of Hopkinsville; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, Aug. 5, at noon at Crosspointe
Baptist Church.
Burial will follow in
Pleasant Grove Cemetery. (
Caldwell Co., Ky.)
Honorary pallbearers will be any ordained minister.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Crosspointe
Baptist Church Building Fund.
