Merle "Monkey" Kilgore, 77 of Cadiz Street, Princeton, died Tuesday, July 29, (1997), at 7 p.m. at his home.
A World War II veteran, retired VFW custodian, member of VFW # 5595, American Legion #116, Eagles Club and the Methodist faith, he was born Oct. 12, 1919, in Caldwell County, a son of the late Lyman G. Kilgore, who died in 1977, and Madie Oliver Kilgore, who died in 1985.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Wilson Kilgore in 1957, Jimmy Kilgore in 1979 and Gayle Kilgore in 1984.
Survivors include two daughters, Martha Jane Larson of Las Vegas, Nev., and Debbie Rae Laszoka of Martinez, Ga.; seven grandchilden; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Buddy Kilgore of Princeton; four sisters, Margie Williams of Caldwell County, Millie Slyter and Barbara Lane, both of Princeton, and Anna Lamb of Hammond, Ind., and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were conducted Friday, Aug. 1, at 11 a.m. at Kilgore Cemetery with Chaplain Al Romero officiating.
Morgan's Funeral Home of Princeton was in charge of arrangements.
