Arnold Rambo, 80, of Princeton, died Monday, June 15, 2009, at 12:45 p.m. at his home, following a long illness.
Born July 28, 1928, in Hopkins County, a son of the late Clyde and Calcie Strong Rambo, he was a faithful member of Northside Baptist Church. He was employed as the head butcher for the Sureway Grocery Stores and then the Piggly Wiggly chain for many years. He worked mainly at the Princeton store and upon retiring he also filled in as butcher at many surrounding city stores as backup for vacations. He was a charter member of the Road Runners Motorcycle Club in Princeton and enjoyed this sport for many years. He rode in many motorcycle events and cross-country races.
He was preceded in death by an infant brother; and a sister, Ruth Hooks.
Survivors include his wife, Eula Young Rambo; four daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Roger McGregor of Princeton, Linda and Tim Newman of Eddyville, Karol and Chuck Smith of Frankfort and Robin and Dana Getz of Jeffersonville, Ind.; three grandsons, Donnie Martin and Zach McGregor, both of Princeton, and David Eric Rogers of Frankfort; a granddaughter, Stephanie P’Pool of Princeton; a great-grandson; six great-granddaughters; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, June 18, at 2:30 p.m. at Morgan’s Funeral Home in Princeton with the Rev. David Royalty and the Rev. Tommy Tackett officiating.
Burial will follow in New Bethel Cemetery. (Lyon Co., Ky.)
Pallbearers will be Dana Getz, Chuck Smith, Tim Newman, Roger McGregor, Eric Rogers and Donnie Martin.
Honorary bearers will be Jim Russell, David Rogers, Doug Crisp, Fred Gregory, Roy McDaniel, Charlie Porter, Gary Rogers, C.B. Rogers, Bill Holloway and Ray Ramage.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
