Edward White, 86, of South Carolina and formerly of Gracey, died Monday, April 27, 2009, at the home of his daughter, following a short illness.
A World War II Army veteran who also served during the Korean Conflict and a retired machine operator for Johnson Controls, he was born Nov. 2, 1922, in Caldwell County, a son of the late Kelsey and Minnie Lee Thomas White. He was a member of Second Baptist Church of Hopkinsville, the VFW and DAV in Kentucky.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, George White Jr. and Marlin F. White; and a sister, Opal Vickery.
Survivors include a daughter, Bette Jean and husband R.D. Kane of Trenton, S.C.; a stepson, Dean Henderson of Dallas, Texas; three grandchildren, Cristi Kearse of Augusta, Ga., Misit Kehr of N. Augusta, S.C., and Sondra Youngblood of N. Augusta, S.C.; a step grandson, Tery Kane; 10 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Katherine Stallons of Princeton; a special friend and companion, Agnes Virginia White of Gracey; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, April 30, at 10 a.m. at Morgan’s Funeral Home in Princeton with the Rev. Bradley Cornelious officiating.
Burial will follow in Cerulean Cemetery. (Ceruluan, Ky.)
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
