Jessie Phelps Irwin, 99, of Princeton, died Tuesday, April 22, 2008, at 12:11 a.m. at her home, following a long illness.
A homemaker and member of First Baptist Church of Princeton, she was born Feb. 27, 1909, in Jamestown, a daughter of the late Marcus Douglas and Ella Wheat Phelps.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Reid Irwin; and two brother, Carl Phelps and Dr. M.D. Phelps.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Bettie Irwin of Cadiz; a daughter, Anne Irwin Ferguson of Princeton; four grandchildren, Sidney Ferguson of Princeton, Wayne Ferguson of Ellicot City, Md., Amy Alday of Orlando, Fla., and Emily Grimm of Oklahoma City, Okla.; and a great-grandchild, Colby Alday; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be conducted Thursday, April 24, at 2 p.m. at Phelps Cemetery in Russell County.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 pm. Wednesday at Morgan’s Funeral Home in Princeton.
