Judge Van Knight, 66, of Fredonia, died Wednesday, April 9, 2008, at 8:30 a.m. at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville, Tenn., of injuries received in a fall.

An Army veteran, member of First Baptist Church of Fredonia, past Exalted Ruler of the Elks Lodge, member of the American Legion and V.F.W., who served on numerous boards across the county and state, he was Caldwell County
Judge/Executive for 14 years. Born Nov. 15, 1941 in Lyon County, he was a son of the late Rev. H.D. and Margaret Peek Knight.

He was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Knight; and a sister, Janice Carol Knight.

Survivors include his wife, Carol Lanham Knight; a son, Brad Knight of Princeton; a daughter, Kara Beth Knight of Fredonia; a grandson, Dakota Knight of Princeton; a granddaughter, Hannah Knight of Eddyville; two stepsons, Donnie Conway and wife Lorrie and Michael Conway and wife Kelly, all of Fredonia; five stepgrandchildren, Tyler, Sarah, Brice, Bailee and Carah; four brothers, Wendell Knight, Cecil Knight and Dennis Knight, all of Princeton, and Dan Knight of Star, Miss.; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, April 12, at 1:30 p.m. at the Community Activities Building in Princeton, located at the Caldwell County High School on Hwy. 91. N.

Dr. Jerrell White will officiate the service.

Burial will follow in Hebron Cemetery in Lyon County.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Community Activities Building and after 10 a.m. on Saturday.
